Great review, thanks Andy for the effort you put in these videos. Based on what I saw here went ahead and bought the Mojawa primarily for swimming. A great player for swimmers, it looks great, it sounds great, it is comfortable and stays fairly put without a swim cap. It has a an issue with the touchpad cycling like crazy between playback modes when swimming, found out that there is a way to disable the touchpad so all is good with MP3 and "Balanced" eq mode while swimming.

Hi Andy, I've never tried any other headphones besides the Sony Walkmen swimming edition. They tend to break after a year (I swim in chlorinated pool water and despite trying to take care of them, they always break.) I've also never tried bone conduction headphones, so I'd like to ask if you can hear music loud enough while swimming and if the sound of the water splashing is, for example, louder than the music? I'm strongly considering purchasing Mojawa headphones this time. Thanks for the answer :)

However, during my first use in the swimming pool, I encountered some issues with the buttons; it appears they shouldn't be used underwater. By the way, I'd appreciate your opinion on the best sound quality when using Sony headphones with swimming ear-tips versus bone-conducting headphones with earplugs. Thank you once again!

No bone conduction can really beat the sound of in-ears even if you use the swimming tips on the Sony which can muffle the sound ever so slightly. As for comfort, tight caps over the headphones will always cause some discomfort due to the extra pressure. That's not Sony-specific, it applies to all similar (headband) designs.

Those IP-rating limitations usually apply to full submersion which you barely do when swimming, so I reckon that for a longer session (1hr+) in the water you should be fine. I believe it's more important to rinse the headphones after each use to improve its longevity.

But does the water do anything to it? why is the bluetooth mode disabled when it is used in water? are there other options that offer bluetooth mode even underwater?

Water absorbs the frequencies of radio waves used by Bluetooth much more than air does, so the range is very short when the transmitter and/or the receiver are submerged because the signal strength drops off pretty sharply as they get further apart. If you put your player close enough to a Bluetooth headphone underwater it will still work (providing that both are waterproof, or protected from water), it's just that it's typically impractical to do so. If you really need to, you can do it, but most methods I can think of to keep a player very close to your headphones seem awkward and uncomfortable. It may also be risky for your player if it's being kept dry by being in a bag.

I swam in both fresh and sea water and also in a pool. Salt water can cause damage in the long run, you are right about that but that's why I suggest to rinse your headphones after every use to keep it clean and remove the salt. It's in the video too.

how could you not include the shokz headphones ? also I would like to know how much is the real battery life, I had one of them promised battery life is 6 hours but they only last around 2 ... u need to use the volume on around 70-80 mark to hear anything and that's what draining battery especially when swimming

You’ll have to download an audiobook and convert it to one of the supported formats and then transfer that file to the headphones. I don’t think you can do that straight from Spotify but maybe someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

I'm really blown away and how behind they are in technology(transferring time, play lists etc) and poor quality mic sound. I knew that touch control wouldn't work in the water, what were they thinking! It's a hard pass. I'll stick to my old SYRYN. I wanted a new one that would recognize play lists for swimming. I don't know what i want to listen too till I am swimming. If I get tired, I like to switch music go get me in the best mood. I had one years ago that did playlists. Thank you so much for this review you did. I liked the video, because I want to support your content however, I’m not really into technology. I just swim a lot. Like 2 to 3 hours a day 4 to 5 days a week in the winter time at the pool and 2 to 6 hours 5 to 7 days a week in the summer time (in Canada outdoor swimming weather without a trisuit is only about 3 maybe 4 months of the year) I’m a big nature person and not a huge tech person but I really enjoy learning by listening to audiobooks, and podcasts when I bike or as I spend time in nature hiking and swimming would be amazing, especially because I swim for so long and especially because swimming indoors in a pool is extremely boring for my mind as a nature and water lover stuck in Canadian winters.. anyway, my point is, I’m not going to subscribe to your channel even though I liked your page. I hope that other people will support you by following you, but I can’t simply because it would be a waste for me to do so since I’m not interested in technology unless that serves my outdoor time in nature specifically for this.. or if it were to be focused on kangen machines and muse meditation, headbands..
