Ren doesn't pigeonhole himself into one style. It's okay for people to find some they don't like. But pound for pound, genre for genre Ren is a beast at what he does. Even if everything is not for everybody. I respect his risk taking.

Ren's song "Power" is definitely autobiographical, but in this song I'm pretty sure Ren is portraying a character, not singing as himself.

Don't worry about the pausing man, if people want to listen to the whole song without interruption, they should go listen to the original, and come back. It's called reacting for a reason.😊 just do it your way. Yes Ren had some really dense rhyme schemes in there, which I liked. And the hook was catchy.

Brother you'll love reacting to Ren & The Big Push covering Marley but make damn sure you do the right one or else the chat will start screaming lol🤣. To be honest there is a specific video that is a amazing because the sound quality of where the camera man set up his mic's, makes all the difference in the world. The Big Push - "I Shot The Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" Is fantastic. This mash-up of Bob Marley, Damian Marley & Dead Prez has a great vibe and gets the crowd going. 🤩

There is no one out there today doing what Ren does. I can understand why someone wouldn't be into it. He's different. But you must respect. The way he blends music with rap is unique. The fact that he starts with a empty hard drive and build his songs from the ground up, writing, producing, playing the instruments, and then singing/rapping is different. Who else is as diverse as having things like Hi Ren, The Tales Of Jenny And Screech and songs like Murderer and Genesis. He has other songs on his KZbin page that are completely different from these examples. And The Big Push also has original songs. His dream is to be a director. He's written a script and is going to make a pilot and try to sell it to Netflix. I bet it will happen.

"There's a difference between reflection and glorification". Mic drop, new sub. Wise, wise shit bruh. Also I'm not sure who/which/what comments you were responding to from people who didn't like it and seemingly for some violence based reason, but I'd like to just add that compared to many US vids with similar themes - sometimes not even - please note: There is not a single gun in this video nor does anyone die. Implied, sure, in our vids, people shoot and kill others and don't even see it as unreasonable, let alone murder. Sending luv from the Chi. xo

You have said what I've been saying for a long time. It's rap. It's theatre. Of course there is violence in the rap world, but I'd say the majority of the references are story-telling and posing. Extra. Braggadocious. Machismo. Exactly. Thanks for another great reaction.

Luke says the number of times he banged into window from roof, fast, smooth backwards, sway cam at 'Rockie' , backwards down stairs, then the near impossible entry in and out of car. Ren surrounds himself with genius and 'lifts all boats'. Brilliant. The reggae is dead right, Ren mentions cudos to Barrington Levy song Murderer. Super good react.

Jay that was awesome! So glad you enjoyed that one. Ren definitely has a reggae soul in him. He loved Bob Marley and Raggae music 🎶 it always was big in the UK. I really appreciate your laying out the rap culture (braggadocious) and giving context to the commonly violent themes (reflection vs. glorification) . You are also hilarious: “Y’all know there’s a version of this video without me in it.” Fantastic reaction. My understanding of this particular song is that it was written a year ago and goes with the album’s Sick Boi theme. Ren is basically embodying a Screech-like character in the video, and the man who’s stuffed in the trunk shows up in the video for Animal Flow tied up. If you have not seen The Big Push perform I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop, and you love reggae, you have to see that next.

I’m new to REN. I’m late to this train and I listened to “Hi Ren” first then fell deep down the rabbit hole… and Lord help me, but why does this music video turn me on. Heaven’s mercy, I’ve heard songs and music videos more violent than this, maybe it’s the accent, maybe it’s bc I can identify with all the mental issues. ADD, PTSD, Anxiety and Depression (damn sure not braggin about that crap). But this song, Animal Flow, Illest of our time, and even the money game and when he was crazy in the Jenny and Screech stories got me sweatin like a whore in church. Y’all need to pray for me. Even that rap diss response he didn’t bother to make a beat for King Dotta was hot and he made it nice in the end. I thought he was in his twenties and younger but he’s just over two months older than me. I repent Lord! I REPENT these lustful thoughts.
