@@SHISH_STYLE Anime's popularity is way more impressive than Hollywood's considering the fact that not only is the population of the US about three times as large as that of Japan, there are tons of English speakers outside of the US who have a natural inclination for being interested in Hollywood movies, which I'm pretty sure usually are in English. That means to me that anime is doing way better than Hollywood at attracting people.

That is a very reasonable question! I didn't see it before someone pointed it out earlier. My best guess is that some part of it straddles the 180th meridian, and my algorithm for calculating the average position (where the flag is supposed to be) then goes awry and puts it between the far west and the far east.
