Guys, I think that none of us would mind if You do a video about comparing Polar watches for triathlon (and not just 2-3 options, I'm sure there are a lot more). Polar sponsors You, which is amazing. I'm a Garmin guy, I don't plan to change to Polar, Suunto or Tomtom. But still, I'd be interested to see, what the other brands can do. But don't use misleading titles, it really sends the wrong message. Well, what is done is done, things like this happen, still love Your content (though I am not a triathlete either), so keep it up :- )

Hey Mate - thanks for the comment here and thanks for the support. We've updated the title based on all your feedback. Cheers!

Wow, I hope, that You didn't take my comment in a "demanding" way. It was just a good intended suggestion for the future. :-) But yeah, this title is perfect imho. What You do is great, and a big kudos to You for listening to the viewers!

Just sold my Apple Watch 4 and ordered the Polar Vantage V. I loved the Apple Watch but the more serious I get into training , the less I need the extra apps, just want the best fitness experience and stats. Can’t wait

It is actually quite funny how people complain about "paid promotion", "no comparison to other brands", etc. It is clearly said in the video it's paid promotion so it's obvious that they can't show other brands (at least in this video). But the goal of the video is something completely different - it should help you to realize what TYPE of device u need. Do you need simple, cheap one that don't give you that much information (in particular during training) or do you need something more advanced. If you make this decision, then u can start looking for comparison between different brands IN THIS PRICE RANGE. So please people, try to understand the purpose of the video instead of pure complain...

People still fail to see why Polar rule the pro fitness watches. It's because of real time tracking. Other watches will let you look at what your heart rate is, this is all well and good. Polar have zones for optimal health, with live constant hr measurements, if you're pushing too hard it'll give you a warning, if you're not pushing enough it'll show that too. Other trackers and smart watches are for looking at the stats after you've worked out. Polar are for real-time information that keep you exercising at optimal levels throughout the workout. This is a much bigger deal than most people realise. If you want a smart watch for physical health and fitness you only ever buy a Polar. If you want a smart watch to talk to, with a pretty screen and chat on FB or whatever, you buy anything else.

Love polar stuff, just sold my Apple Watch 4 and ordered the Polar Vantage V for all the reasons you mentioned . Also the fact you can select a running program and download it to your watch to guide you day by day.

I'm a Garmin guy, have a Fenix 5s, I'm not here to compare, the only thing I like about polar watches is they emphasize that sportive spirit when they are used daily, while my Garmin is simply mistaken with Samsung watches. Subjective opinion not everybody's cup of tea though

Interesting to see what Polar has to offer :) Don't seem to be that popular here (in the running community) in South Africa but their products look great.

More of a Suunto fan here but I used to have a polar v800. Love both brands and I am really excited about the new polar Ventage V. Polar flow is still the best sport app out there (compared to garmin connect and suunto movescout).

Come on people don't hate on GTN because they do paid promotion for some companies. It helps them to get their bills paid and you can enjoy all the other free videos on interesting topics and with pro athletes. If you want a comparison between the various triathlon watches go to DcRainmaker and read his watch guide.

Why do you like Garmin more then Polar?
@solarisfire6 жыл бұрын
Mainly it's the aesthetic, I love the look of the Fenix series and couldn't imagine wearing Polar's devices on a day to day basis. I'm super comfortable using Garmin connect and don't want to have to learn a new system. Polar's don't have internal music support, don't innovate with features like wrist based payment, don't have Galileo for nav, aren't as waterproof, I love running dynamics and the polar kit doesn't seem to offer more advanced running metrics, I love that I have mapping on my wrist even without a phone, Virtual pacing that I use on every single race I run above 10K.... Polar just seems behind the curve on everything.

Fair question jvm5. We worked with our partners at Polar to make this video. We used three watches from their range to show what you can look for at various levels/price points. We don't do reviews, so wouldn't compare Polar to Garmin in this video. Thanks for commenting.

@nicolasguntner74976 жыл бұрын
Well as of right now most Polar Watches are terribly outdated with old and uncomfortable heart rate monitors clunky heavy designs and well let's be nice and say vintage software. Even a top of the notch Polar like a v800 which goes for around 400-500 cant compare to for example a Vivoactive 3 in anything but sheer complexity. Now that said with the new vantage line of polar watches the tide in battle might be shifted but they've come out only a couple days ago so it's too early to say much but they look very promising. If you're not in a rush and not on a budget I would wait a week or so till the vantage reviews come in and then decide which one you want. If you want a good running watch right now on a budget with no extras and gimmicks get a forerunner 30 and depending on how much money you wanna spend and how many extra features you want to along the line of Garmin products. Hope that helped
@mikelzubieta60036 жыл бұрын
Garmin has a great range of products but I am more of a Suunto and Polar fan. I've had different watches and tried all those brands. For me, well, I loved the "Polar v800" that I used to have but I changed to a "Suunto Spartan Sport wrist HR Baro" for GPS accuracy. Quality wise I'd say the scandinavian ones win, go for a Polar!
@MateHegyhati6 жыл бұрын
Garmin fan here.I'll be honest: I've never tried any other brand, so I won't say, that Garmin is better, since I have no idea. I have some thoughts based on my friends experiences, but that's not solid enough to base a suggestion on it. So back to myself: When I was thinking about buying my first watch, I only knew Polar and Garmin. My thinking was this: Do I want a watch developed by a company that is professional in GPS and added HR recently , or by one that is professional in HR, and added GPS recently? For me, GPS was more important, so I ended up with a Garmin Fenix 2, when the Fenix 3 was already on the marked. A few years later I still use that F2, and works as it should. Since I started cycling more, I bought a used Edge200, that is perfect for my needs. Since Pebble crushed, I have a Vivoactive as a smarwatch. All these are old models, but they just work fine. I'm happy with the quality, Garmin Connect is getting beter. In short: I'm satisfied with what I have. Polar or any other competitors would need to be not just slightly better, but significantly better to make me leave my Garmin ecosystem. For me, it is not a big deal, as I'm not much about fashion, but most of Polar watches really look like something from a bad scifi from the 90's. Garmin got that right I believe. This new Polar seems to be ok too.
@mikelzubieta60036 жыл бұрын
@@MateHegyhati I like suunto because they do good quality watches that are really simple and robust (which I find essentian for a sport watch). Garmin on the other hand (talking mostly about the new forerunners and the fenix series) has really complete watches with many features I'd never use but from my point of view they are not as robust (unless you pay more for the saphire version). My first watch (a garmin forerunner 110) stopped working after a training in a rainy day...

I am sorry to hear that. I've used both my Fenix2 and my Vivoactive for swimming many times without any problems.

Instead of just giving us the obvious sell talk, show how the devices actually perform in comparison to other brands. They should crush the competition if they are even half as good as stated...
@gtn6 жыл бұрын
Hey Niclas, we'll always be upfront about working with sponsors. One thing we don't do, though is reviews or comparisons of products. Hopefully - whichever brand of watch you are looking at - this video gives an overview of what you might expect from the various price points. Cheers
@niclasmagnusson7296 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, but it is the reviews and comparisons that are interesting, even indirect ones - why would you choose the watch? For example, how easy is it to switch from swimming to transition to bike to transition to run? A watch that is unable to handle that is more or less disqualified as a tri watch. Also, how easy is it to analyze your training in flow, and how does the watch measure your heart rate when you mount it on the handlebars? Topics like these could easily be included in the video and would make it more interesting and at the same time a better ad for Polar. I have seen your videos, I know you can do much, much better than this one.

Which triathlon watch! No Garmin or suunto or TomTom for comparison! And the Paid promotion! in the start of the video... You could have named the video which "polar" watch to buy... And barely gotten away! Sad!

Don't get me wrong. It's just a joke. I love your channel and the openness about paid sponsorships (same goes for GCN). Big fan of your great work 👍
@adaNiya886 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate your content and there's nothing to say against paid promotion, especially with full disclosure. However, just picking three Polar devices from top to bottom of the price range and mentioning some of their features doesn't make an informing video. Compare them regarding their capabilities as a triathlon watch or at least name some equivalent models of competitors. Please don't sell out!
@gtn6 жыл бұрын
Hey adaNiya88 - thanks for comment, support and feedback. We wanted this video to be a look at what you might expect from various levels of sport watch, using our sponsor, Polar's, products as an example. We read all the comments and we're not going to sell out Thanks again for commenting. Cheers!

No, GTN, No. I totally respect your need to make money, with ads & promotions being a part of it. But this video crosses the line. "Includes Paid Promotion" tag at the start doesn't cover you. Please don't give up your editorial integrity in order to land some short-term revenue. This was a bad, bad, bad choice on your part, and we'll forgive you this once. But never again, or you risk losing loyal viewers which will not allow you to sell further ads in future.

Hi Alpher, apologies that you didn't feel the declarations were enough. We have changed the title following some of your comments to closer reflect the content of the video. One of the more disappointing GTN videos to date. Totally understand you needing to support sponsors, but part of that should be “selling” the idea of why these watches are superior to others on the market. When you don’t even mention others, it really makes the video useless to most of your audience.
@gtn6 жыл бұрын
Hey trbeyond - thanks for the feedback and, of course, we're very sorry to hear you feel that way about the video. We don't review products, so we wouldn't put brand x's products against brand y's. Hopefully the points and products shown can be useful across brands. Cheers and thanks again for commenting.
