I have a old Commuter from priority. It’s a great bike. I have put new tires on. Maintenance is very low. I have a basket on the back, I take my dog with me. Great gear range and shifts smoothly. Yes mine is at least 5 years old.

I got the Ace and it's perfect for me. It's very smooth and quiet. It also handles hills very well. We have a few long inclined hills and this bike goes right up them without having to stand up and pedal. It's definitely the right bike for anybody that wants something incredibly simple, light and low maintenance. Its so easy to ride at higher speeds that I forget sometimes I'm just going to the store and realize how fast I'm going like I'm trying to race somebody.

My requirements are so different, riding in my particular city, lots of winter, lots of salt and lots of bike theft. The 600 and Onyx=no. They would be stolen instantly. The others are all great. But I worry about rust and corrosion from all of the salt being layed down in the winter months. You should include the Coast in this selection. Stock fenders, rustproof frame and forks and heads-up riding position.

Which bike allows for upright commuting
@PriorityBicyclesNYC2 жыл бұрын
Our Turi is the most upright commuter. If you wanted to go electric- the Current is really upright and easy. The continuum is our workhorse commuter- while it isn't traditionally upright, it does not have a long reach. If you wanted those features, it may be worth tweaking the stem or handlebars at a local bike shop to get it to a perfect position for you. Even with modifications it is a well-priced, all season commuter. Thanks!

@@PriorityBicyclesNYC I'm leaning toward the 19" Continuum Onyx (which happens to be in stock) due to the CVT which I love the idea of. But I have a bad back that can't take much leaning over. How high can the handlebars be raised from the pics I see on the website? Or is this not the right bike for me?
@ahmeeeeeeeeeeeed3 жыл бұрын
@@-johnny-deep- Not to detail the conversation but you might want to look into recumbents to see if they meet your ergonomic needs. Alternatively you can just get the Continuum and install some swept back handle bars for a more upright position (heck I'd even say experiment with those crazy beach cruiser handlebars). There's also the option of bullhorns amongst other ergonomic options that you can attach to your handle bars.

The apollo would be better with rim brakes for simplicity and weight savings or at least have the option for it. Disc brakes are nice, but can be fiddly, noisy and heavier. Every gram counts off-road and climbing. The Fixie would be better with modern drop-outs to enable flipping the rim quickly to change ratio's. Priced out the Apollo last night, and while the price is on point....................$125us or $159 Cad to ship it to Ontario is outrageous, and puts you out of the market up here. Free shipping to Canada or even $50usd shipping to Canada would keep you in the market. $2300cad your just in the market price range, pushing $2500 your out of it.
@Arfonfree3 жыл бұрын
While this was informative, it didn't help. I want a 600ApolloContinuum. I like the price on the Continuum, gear range on the 600, and speed of the Apollo... I'll probably go with the 600... or maybe the Apollo... or maybe the Continuum... I'm a pleasure rider, not a commuter. I live in a rural area, so while it's mostly paved roads, there are a number of gravel roads... and I live not far from a system of parks that have a network of offroad trails... I can't justify the cost of the 600X, so (thinking aloud) it seems like the 600 is as close as I'm likely to get.
@PriorityBicyclesNYC3 жыл бұрын
Hi there- yes you have some good points here. I would say that the 600 is the way to go. You get paved and gravel really well with a gear range that will support mixed terrain and elevation, along with an ability to get some speed going. 600 is where it's at!
