Morocco has participated in Eurovision though, once, and after coming second to last in 1980 their king vowed to never ever ever return ever again 😂 I guess it was supposed to be a joke, Moroccoball mistaking Eurovision for the European Union Furthermore, the entirety of Northern Africa 9:27 and Middle Eastern countries that border the Mediterranean can also take part. Lebanon did attempt to do so twice but the fact that they have to broadcast the entirety of the contest which, for better or worse, also includes Israel has prevented them from doing so. They had even picked a song in 2006 but backed out at the last minute. Their song is still included in the official 2006 album though. The reasoning behind this has something to do with the way telegraph poles were set up in the previous century. That's why the European Broadcasting Union includes countries next to but not in Europe. Liechtenstein and, of course, the Vatican are the only countries in Europe that have never participated in Eurovision and Kazakhstan (partially in Europe) has only been allowed in the Junior version as they are only an associate EBU member. Likewise, Australia is an associate member as well and was originally allowed to participate in 2015 as a one time thing because they have been an associate member for a long time they signed a contract for 2016-2023 and they seemed to have renewed it for 2024 as well. Worth noting that each country pays different participation fees depending on their population, San Marino has to pay much less than Australia, for example, so keeping Australia around is definitely something the EBU cares deeply for.

Arab is in the Semitic family, thus Afghanistan is closer to speaking Dutch than Arabic. Of course, most likely speak some Arabic for religious reasons, but that doesn't make it an Arab country any more than Denmark is an English country. Explaining Touhou Lore - The Basic Setting This post is written as a guide to newcomers so they have a baseline understanding of the world of Touhou. 1 - The Land of Illusions, the Land of the Forgotten Touhou is set in a version of the modern, real world where mythologies do truly exist. Collectively, these mythologies are all simply called "Youkai" in Touhou. So that's how we're gonna refer to them. Youkai are beings that are created and shaped by people's imagination through the power of Lunacy. They exist because people fear them; same for the Kami whom exists because people have faith in them, etc. That's the nature of their existance in the world. Without fear, Youkai would cease to exist. Without faith, the Kami would cease to exist, etc. It's not all the same for every type of youkai though. Fairies are embodiments of nature, so they are tied to the well being of the nature around them. Ghosts also sort of exist because people believe in them, but they're not creations of people's imagination and can't really be shaped by it.) For hundreds of years the Youkai continued to exist along with humans, in almost an endless conflict against eachother. After all, it is the Youkai's nature to make humans fear them; to hurt humans so. It is the Ghosts' nature to make people believe they exist, and so they must haunt humans, etc. But in the recent hundred or so years, science & technology & modernity started to rise; casting away the terrifying unknowns of the darkness of the night. Because of this, people began to fear Youkai less, and generally began to believe in Youkai less. And consequently, Youkai started to fade away; to the point that most can barely be seen, and can barely keep their existance from disappearing. And so the land called "Gensokyo" was created as a sort of refuge for Youkai; so they may not become extinct. They created Gensokyo by seperating a small village of humans from the modern "outside world" with "the Great Hakurei Barrier". That way, this village would be unaffected by science & modernity, and through some manipulation, could keep fearing Youkai & believing in the Kami & such. And so the Youkai in Gensokyo rely on those humans from this small primitive village to exist. Because without them, all the Youkai would cease to exist. And this would be the new home of the Youkai. A small space seperated from the outside world, made as a refuge for all of the mythologies forgotten by the coldness of the science & technology of humanity. The "Land of Illusions", the "Land of the Forgotten"; created so these forgotten mythologies may never disappear. 2 - Reimu Hakurei & the Storylines of the Games And this is where the storylines of the games comes in. The Youkai needs the belief and fear in humanity in order to survive. It's the reason why Gensokyo was created in the first place. But if they harm/kill most or all of the humans(either accidentally or intentionally), there wouldn't be enough fear or belief to keep the Youkai healthy & strong. And they may even die off because of that. But if there's too many humans, or if the humans can overpower the Youkai, then the humans wouldn't fear them. And so the Youkai would die off in that scenario too. And so they have to maintain a balance in between those two extremes. And that can be a difficult task; especially in a such small place that are full of incredibly powerful Youkai, which is therefore bound to be very chaotic. And that's where the Hakurei Shrine Maiden comes in; and therefore what Reimu's job is. The job of Reimu, who is the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, is "to preserve the balance of Gensokyo"(besides "maintaining the great Hakurei Barrier", which is also her job). Her job isnt just resolving incidents; it's resolving incidents significant enough to break that balance & destroy the peace in Gensokyo. (Although she specializes more on matters relating to Youkai breaking that balance). And this is basically what all of the games are about. Some powerful Youkai that either was already a resident of Gensokyo or has recently moved into Gensokyo does something so ridiculous that it would break that balance. Doing so either because they're stupid, or because they have some sort of plan, or for personal reasons. And it's Reimu's job to resolve these incidents & stop these Youkai in their tracks before they could start seriously harming Gensokyo. Notable examples of incidents are the Scarlet Mist incident from Touhou 6 where a scarlet mist covered the entirety of Gensokyo & blocked out the sun, the Geyser incident from Touhou 11 where a giant hole suddenly appeared on the ground & started spewing a bunch of spirits & youkai into Gensokyo, and the incident in Touhou 14.5 where Sumireko, a girl from the modern outside world/"the real world", tries to break into Gensokyo. These are the things that usually catches the Shrine Maiden's attention & requires resolving, and are usually the kind of stuff that the main games cover. 3 - This is Just the Basic Setting But there is alot more to it than just that. Because this is just the basic setting. We haven't even talked about all the other relevant places of this world that isn't Gensokyo, such as Makai, former heck, the Lunar Capital, and even the Outside World itself. Nor have we talked about all the other important figures in Gensokyo besides the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, such as the Sages, the Hieda clan, etc. Besides, the best part of Touhou lore are the very characters that are in this world as well as all the stories they have to offer, none of which has really been talked about here(besides Reimu). This is just the basic setting. And we have only scratched the surface of the Lore of Touhou & it's characters. So you still have alot to discover. Diving into this rabbit hole & discovering all sorts of things about it is also an experience on it's own. And this post is never meant to replace that experience (it's not really capable of doing so). It's meant only to provide a good, true jumping off point for you to do some exploring yourself
