Both, clearly. No one piece of software will do every job in every situation. And while you're at it, throw in Motion - even without FCP. It's a great "non-plugin" plugin for DaVinci.

man. Ive been between FCP and DR Free for the past year now after being a life long FCP user. I'd say I have a good understanding of DR now and gave it a true use. That being said, at the end of the day I just love how easily I can move and flow in FCP compared to DR. I feel like in DR when the project starts building up I have to think too much about what I'm doing in a track-based workflow. Moving video/audio up and down on the track? Then you have to worry about overwriting something or it just feels clunky at some points. I think the two huge differences are timeline navigation and color grading workflows. I love working in FCP but hate color grading in it so I'm either going to go all in on FCP or find a way to comfortably do everything in FCP and finish off grading in DR. I wanted to love DR so badly and have it be my only editor but man every time I go back to FCP its a breath of fresh air.

I think editing in FCP and coloring and doing graphics in resolve is a great workflow
@QPZess8 күн бұрын
FCP has a dope color grade plugin called color finale which is extremely similar to Davinci’s color grading tools . It helps put it on equal footing with Davinci. It uses layers over nodes as a heads up. Davinci has fusion which counters after effects which makes it very attractive. With FCP you will probably need Apple Motion and a subscription with MotionVFX to get FCP to be just as good as Davinci. Another nice option not many people know is Apple Motion that you can create custom plugins that you publish to FCP. Which in theory FCP will get to the same level and exceed Blackmagic software. I love both apps as I hate Adobe with a passion. Both are great apps that allow you to create the best videos.

@tvchrisАй бұрын
I think it depends on your priorities. If you need speed + advanced Motion Graphic Capabilities, FCP hands down. If you need things like text based editing, precision color, tracked based workflow and very simple mograph, go with Resolve. I'd say be versatile in both, but Resolve is super deep and a steep commitment if you're trying to learn both. If you enjoy torture, go Premiere Pro. That said, FCP has pulled ahead for me.
@jakefelzienАй бұрын
Advanced motion graphics? 🤔 you need plugins for that. But yeah I think I agree with this

How does FCP win in motion graphics?
@tvchrisАй бұрын
@ Final Cut has apple motion integrated basically as a plugin. Of the 3 major packages it is the one with by far the sleekest ‘mogrt’ style of integration. Resolve has Fusion, which, while great for VFX, is still sorely lacking in mograph capability and speed.
@tvchrisАй бұрын
@ I guess we have different opinions on what mograph is. I could agree with you on vfx, but motion graphics, text etc? No way. If you’re factoring in performance and ease of template creation, it’s not even close.

@makemefeelweddings18 күн бұрын
I would go all in in DR if they did something like favorites workflow. The track based thing vs magnetic isn't a deal breaker. Working with favorites is a game changer, specially for those like me that shoot events and weddings. I have like 3h and favorites lets me work with thumbnails like I was looking at a storyboard. Color grading in nodes is very intuitive, but you can do 90% of the typical grading in FCP that you do in DR. Learn and work in both. Premiere only keeps market share because of after effects. Apple and black magic need to rethink Motion and Fusion because both easily can replace AE. In the end, FCP is great for fast delivery, simple effects and moderate grading. DR is insane for youtubers because of simple things like power bins and the way librarys work, and faster for a-roll, B-roll + captions and more intricate effects (fusion integration) for titling and so much more.

Wow, I actually have both and have been flip flopping between them as well. I use Davinci and I'm blown away with their noise isolation. Final Cut has it too, but it just doesn't have the same results. Then I go back to Final Cut and I'm like... damn, the ease of editing on this is great. There isn't a lot to think about and the media organization is just better. In the end, I tend to lean more towards Davinici just because I feel I achieve better results even though that ends up costing me more time.

In terms of the magic mask, I had this complicated scene where I was trying to mask out things inside a doorframe to make it look like you walked into a completely different scene. There were a bunch of random objects and different shading, so it would be hard for AI to figure out. Final Cut for me actually did a poor job. It wouldn't mask out exactly what I wanted. So I tried Davinci and the results were much better. So I think it really depends. I think for simple objects, maybe the Final Cut one would work better.

When I see this, someone trying to compare this 2 and premiere, yo don't have a clue of the power of Resolve, 95% of the studio version its in the free one, the color page and fusion, its enough to have Davinci, where in FCP you have this two to work so easy, those 2 don't come close premiere and fcp. in the studio version of FCP, when they bought Final Touch, (color) soundtrack, the editing part, it was good then, just because they now made it easy to rotoscope, you thinks they're close, wait instill Blackmagic come out whit more update, and you have to wait on Apple a few years from now for update, you let me know.
