From seeing videos, the northern approach seems nicer as it seems you can see the actual mountain a lot more from a greater distance. And you avoid the terrible Khumbu icefall. The "highway" between the glaciers on the northern side has simply stunning views. Then again, I'll never climb any mountains higher than 1000 meters. I just watch Everest on KZbin :D

Well it does have far less traffic compare to the south side
@cathylarkins99492 жыл бұрын
I would say North side basically because you don’t have to navigate the Khumbu Falls

North is more challenging & has less traffic.
@SunDev12 жыл бұрын
It's not that challenging. North Physical but south is psychological, because, There are a lot of crevases, in the south side and North side has little to none crevases.

I was wonder where did they meet on way to summit? The top of Everest is only 1 top and where the climber meet from both side before reach the top??
@yellowNred Жыл бұрын
They meet only at the summit.

Northside is better. if you want to avoid the risk of foot traffic and khumbu ice fall on South Side. There are more deaths on the south side even with infrastructure and helicopter the stress of airlifting and carrying a body on a mass busy trail is agonizing plus the unpredictable weather.
@juzoli2 ай бұрын
They have more deaths, because there are a lot more noobs trying there.

And what about avalanches? Ive heard a lot of avalanches at the south face, does anyone know about the Avalanche risk in the north side? I guess there less risk due is more dry.

Why don't you mention that the death rate on the south side is more than double compared to the north side, Sumit rate on the north is also slightly higher. Sounds like a biased review to me.

@@fishman3166 I think you're right. The Nepalese (South side) allow less experienced climbers/more ppl to summit which would skew the statistics

Why dont you explain why that might be? Look at the numbers going up the south side and the experienve they have.
