If it’s in the finance of your farming I’d suggest keeping both skid loaders that way if one decides to give you issues you have a backup skid loader

2 is 1,one is none. Life motto to live by. Easier to have 2 or something incase one fails, then to rely on the one and only, just to have it fail when you need it the most.

I went with a Kubota this spring mainly for the overhead door. I didn't want to be taking it on and off all the time. The price difference was definitely a factor too. People forget Bobcat used Kubota engines for many years before Doosan bought them out. I'm happy with mine so far. Would have bought a Bobcat if they had a overhead door and price was the same!

Nice video guys. I have a 50 cow dairy in central Illinois. I have ran New Holland loaders for the last 30 years. A couple years ago I kept my old L218 and bought a new L318. This was the first time that I didn't trade my old machine in. Keeping my old loader was one of the best things I've ever done. It is so nice having two loaders. I keep the new one out of the manure. Both machines are rated at 1800 lbs. Congratulations on your new machine. I know they are expensive, but they are awesome.

I liked the Case, all hand controlled SSL's. My son in law has a Cat on tracks, and those controls are very similar, all hand. I'm not a good dancer, so foot controls are not always easy for me.😂

Ride control is nice. What it does is open up a valve, and it introduces an accumulator to the circuit which is basically a big cushion. As you hit bumps, the oil is allowed to expand and contract within the accumulator, and the bucket will move. Now, as far as having to pay for and unlock the feature, I always thought that was a little ridiculous lol.

A bit amazed you got hand/foot on a new one.............Pilots anyone can run. We always ran Gehl's and then switched to Cat when they brought out the A series, after standing on your head to work on things, the Cat's were amazing the way they had things laid out and easy to get to. I would have probably went back with a Gehl, but my wife liked the Cat...............Always laugh I bought Cat because it was easier to get to things to work on it, but we never really ever worked on them. Other than service, we had one bad battery cable, a few batteries, and that was it to this point.

Great Video again! I agree with your Dad. All the electronics in everything this day and time is a worry! They are making everything so it has to go back to the shop to be worked on. As you know getting parts right now is awful! I had a work truck out of commission for 6 weeks because the wheel hub assembly was on back order. I think your smart keeping both Bobcats. I don’t watch TV. But I sure watch Gierok Farms videos ! I feel like you’re Family! Thanks! WH Gaddy

The dairy I help out on tried to order another Bobcat last fall. At first they were told it would be January then April and then basically never. So they bought a Kubota. I do not like the Kubota. Its control's are stiff and squirrelly. I also don't like that it doesn't have fenders so the wheels splatter cow poo all over the windows making it hard to see down low in tight quarters. I love the old 773 at my full time job at the horse stable. Hand and foot controls heat and AC. I put a lot of hours running a snow blower.

I know what you mean about keeping the handles/tools in the same place. We have in the past purchased cars from one particular brand, because the layout was similar or the same and when we test drove another brand, it felt uncomfortable and even unsafe. It does make a difference. Good luck with your skid steers and it is smart to have a backup. Enjoy!

We have had hand and foot controls, starting in 1979 with a New Holland. We were New Holland until 2018 when we bought our first Deere. It it all hand controls, once you get used to it you would never go back to hand and foot controls. Hand controls are so much faster, less fatigue after a long day or running. We demoed a new Bobcat in the nineties and again in the 2000's and we were not impressed. No room to work on them. Servicing other models is much easier, side panels come off and the cab can be lifted with one finger..

I also have foot controls hoping that new system is better my s595 the pedals build up under with materials falling off work boots had to wash under petals weekly not fun when minus 20 in the winter. I like you like to have the door off in the summer for better visability .

Interesting to hear your thoughts. The boys used to work for my brother-in-laws brother. They had a couple New Holland skid steers. One got used for feeding the other got used for manure and clean up work. So your logic on use makes sense to me. They also had separate buckets for feed and manure work. I've leased a couple of Bobcats over the years. Never really ran competetive machines to gain much of an opinion.

I farm too, I'm thinking of updating. Bobcats have one of the cleanest engine compartments, easy to work on and not many little wires and hoses going here and there and every where! Probably going to keep my high hour skid and get an articulated loader. Time to start treating myself better. Change is hard, like when I went from a flip phone to a smartphone, I don't regret it!

Great video Like dad, I started with a 742. Then 753, 763, 185, 190, 590, and just agreed to a 66 today All Bobcat, and all foot controls - muscle memory! I did switch from a wheeled 763 to the tracks at the 190 upgrade. I’ll get my T66 at the end of the week. Your video confirms the rumors I’ve heard regarding the “delay” from the electronics. I’m hoping I can adjust quickly. Thanks for sharing

We have a S66 as well but I loved the s 590 and 185 that we have had. I like the s66 but the electric over hydraulic is such a pain in my opinion. We have are setting for hydraulic all the way down because it goes so darn fast. But I guess it takes time to get use to. There is a button behind the back rest of the seat for a heated seat for when it is-40 degrees Fahrenheit. On the s 66.

Said if they ever sold it, it would go with a new door. Maybe they were just saying that anyone out there who did have one could give them an idea about the reason they preferred one over another. I know nothing about skid steers either, but am interested in how things work. I think it is a good thing for them to have another one because they are constantly using the old one and things can wear out or you can't always get new parts easily.
