Here comes the random Fire Emblem knowledge Byleth does have a pet owl we can see in their room in the academy, her feathers are even an item everyone like in the game. Most likely a reference to Feh, the pet owl of Fire Emblem Heroes. Roy arguably has a family white horse owned by his father Eliwood which was his steed in Blazing Blade. Roy also rides that horse in Fire Emblem Heroes. Corrin's a bit weird. There is this character named Lilith who is Corrin's sister but Corrin literally never knows it and only knows her as one of their maid. Once Lilith reveals her dragon form (which looks like a flying fish/dragon on an orb) in which she is permanently stuck in now and allows the army to access their own pocket dimension, Corrin and the army kinda takes care of her like a pet by feeding her random stuff and keeping her company. But hey, that's the same game where you can pet anyone in your army. Other than that, the otherd don't have pets to my knowledge aside from the occasional frogs Chrom and Robin gets assaulted by because of Lissa (Chrom's sister) pranking them.

I think "pet" implies a certain level of domestication. Donkey Kong was really a pet, he was Mario's caged Wild Animal. Also that's canonically Cranky Kong, and the DK in Smash is that guy's grandkid. I don't think he's canonically met Mario. Bowser also had a Chain-Comp dog thing in Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I think he had it in a few other games too, but he does use it to fight.

6:33 there’s a few things that you neglected to mention in olimar’s section. 1. The pikmin see olimar as a leader so I don’t think that qualifies as animal abuse (and pikmin are plants). 2. Olimar has a dog named Bulbie back on his home planet. And Moss from Pikmin 4 could also be considered a pet. 3. Olimar only willingly took Louie to PNF-404 once in pikmin 3. In pikmins 2 and 4, Louie is ordered by the president to go there.

Also here’s a few other characters who I would argue have pets Rick, Kine, Coo, Nago, Chuchu, and pitch could count as Kirby’s pets. King Dedede had a bunch of pet scarfies in an episode of the anime, and considering the fact that they are part of his army it could also be true to the games (considering Escargoon also exists in the games but only appeared once in Kirby mass attack) Sonic has a pet Chao in Sonic adventure Link has a horse in various Zelda games Young link has a horse named Epona in ocarina of time. Zelda (and by extension sheik) has a pet remlit named Mia And many of the fire emblem characters have horses

Rush is literally specifically built to have a platform for megaman to stand on, no harm to him and he's happy to help. Police dogs are also a thing and I see no one complaining about their existence

Even if we accept Pokemon Trainer in Animal Abuse teir (Which I don't), I have to argue that Ness and Lucas's dogs were acting as guard dogs of their own volition as would be excepted of a well trained good boy who wants to protect his master from dangerous animals. Ness and Lucas didn't necessarily instruct their dogs to fight, they simply brought them along on a walk and happened to get attacked by wildlife. We also have to consider that they fought alongside their pets, supporting them in battle as allies rather than using them and even taking damage for the dog.

Since Rush Coil is a built in function that Rush has specifically to help Mega Man, I don’t think it should count as animal abuse. It’s basically the same as having a bloodhound track things. (Same thing applies to all of Rush’s other modes and functions, as well as Beat and Tango.)

I'd like to argue against the Ness allegations. Dogs are used for home defense and other assisting methods all the time. That's not abuse, that's what they were meant for, and I think that a dog that wants to defend his young and vulnerable owner is a noble pet indeed. Definitely deserving of the name King. He is a noble dog. Also you forget that dogs were also originally domesticated for hunting and shepherding, hence why some breeds are called "Shepherds".
