The nhl playoffs are a lot more inconsistent with the best teams winning. The difference maker here is how much of a team sport the game is. Your best player might see maybe 30 minutes of ice time. One player can’t simply carry a team like in other sports. Anybody can win any game

Not really. Because the entire country views it that way as a vast majority being nfl fans. The highest nba finals ever watched was 35.89 million people game 6, 21 years ago... nhl 10.4 million. MLB, 40 million. super bowl, 114.4 million viewers. It’s not even really comparable and the stats aren’t skewed at all.

Also pitsburgh was though to be a dying team, everyone thought they were done, then they one two back to back cups LA won the cup being the 8th seed. The point is, no one thought these teams would make it to the finals from the start.

@ijachacovert they broadcast on NBCSN Wednesday night. NBC Sunday afternoon and the NHL network pretty much every night nationally. The region broadcasts are usually Fox sports or sometimes a channel will host multiple specific teams (CBC in Canada for Canadian teams and MSG/MSG+ for the Rangers, Islanders and Devils)

@@amitojchahal7337 I love hockey and rarely miss a game. The movie miracle is easily one of the greatest sports movies of all time. but hockey can be just as slow as the MLB and sometimes slower. It’s pretty much soccer on ice. A lot of people moving but a ton of missed shots and passes, very few points scored etc. at least in baseball there is a chance for a double, triple, home run with every pitch. Double and triple plays are exiting to watch and the art of watching a pitcher throw a 100+ mph fastball, followed by a filthy curve in the high 70’s - mid 80’s and the guys who can paint the corners to completely shut down even the greatest hitters is beyond fun to watch. The one thing hockey has over every other sport is the OT. Nothing like it in any other sport and it’s absolutely incredible to watch. The rest of the game can be quite boring at times, just like soccer.

I got my father to take me to a Stanley Cup Playoff game between the Caps and the Blue Jackets (this was the year the Caps won the cup). My father has never watched hockey. NHL playoffs are incredible. I don’t watch hockey much, it wasn’t covered well from where I lived at a time. And I always preferred the strategic nature of NFL football. But the one time I tried getting into hockey, I watched a Caps/Bruins series from like 8 years ago. The best most nerve wrecking thing I have ever watched. It was amazing. AIso, NHL has the best trophy. It should be more popular imo, not sure why it’s was so under the radar back then. It was fast paced, violent, and the rules are simple enough to understand. Also, it’s not so obviously rigged like NBA or NFL lmao! There’s probably rigging, but not as obvious. So yeah, bummer for the sport.

NHL is tough to follow cause of the long season. It’s my favorite sport by far, but NFL is the most special cause it is an event every week. There’s also so much discussion that can happen around football, while hockey really is not a sport where there’s much to talk about. My main issue with football is how many things can go wrong considering injuries, bad referee calls, bad coaching decisions, or just momentum swings that lead to teams running away with games. Hockey tends to have a better chance of a close hard fought battle. And yes, that Caps Bruins series was wild. I remember being so happy the Caps nocked the Bruins out of the playoffs.

Nothing’s better than channel flipping during the first couple rounds of the NHL playoffs and landing on multiple games going on at once. MLB playoffs are so tense that that’s hard to top though. I feel myself get nervous anytime I hear Kenny Albert’s voice because of Jays-Rangers 2015, a series that my team won, I was just a nervous wreck for four hours every night during it.

Game 6 of the 2011 World Series cards vs rangers was the most drama filled, edge of your seat moment I have seen in sports. I can’t think of another moment in sports with so many moments it could have gone either way. Most “big games” come down to a single moment or play but that game was full of those moments.

I'd personally say MLB playoffs, followed right behind by Hockey. People say that MLB is too slow, but to me it simply has a level of suspense the other sports don't have. Think of it like horror games being jumpscare-heavy vs being a slow-burner that has you on the edge of your seat, anticipating the scares but not getting them.

I never watched baseball growing up. I was a football not. Steve Sabol and NFL Films had alot to do with that. That said, I've become an MLB playoff nut over the last 5-6 years, especially the World Series. I think the tension and slower pace is a suprising change from what I traditionally considered exciting....especially as I've gotten a little older.

Ya know, the one rebuttal I have to people saying "Oh baseball's too slow": Baseball has suspense, a grade above the other big 4. When any one swing of the bat can completely change the game at any time and you know that, the buildup to every pitch makes the payoffs that much better. Bottom of the ninth, 2 strikes, 2 outs, with tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position? Every foul-off just makes the tension all the higher, as you know at some point something's got to give, but you never know when. It's like jumpscares in horror games, where you're more on-edge when the scares are used sparingly as opposed to being thrown at you every five seconds. That's what puts me off of the NBA as opposed to the other sports, as the scoring happens so much that only someone with the attention span of a flea would be able to truly appreciate the scoring opportunities more often than not.

March Madness (College Basketball Playoffs) is by far and away the best playoff series to watch. i know it's only collegiate and not a professional sports league like the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB but every game is so intense and you have no idea what is going to happen. every year March madness has so many Top Tier games and matchups that are so fun to watch

My reason for liking hockey more than football is because the NHL is because the game feels so much more fast pace, and always puts me on the end of my seat. Also, hockey can be completely unexpected, like when the Columbus Blue Jackets swept the Tampa Bay Lightning in round 1 of the 2019 NHL playoffs, and the Lightning was on the rise.

I love football and hockey, and I think hockey is more exciting just because I play it, but the thing about football is that every game is an event. There isn’t 70+ games a year where you can just miss one and see the next in two days. Every Sunday or prime time game is a time to go out with friends or hang out with family, and people don’t want to miss it. It’s not necessarily about flat out being a better sport than everything else, it’s the memories people can make watching playoff or regular season football. On top of that literally every game matters in the regular season, a team can go on a cold streak in any other sport and still be one of the best placed teams in the league, but if you lose 3-4 straight in football your playoff hopes are just about wrapped up

1000% NHL, legit read the official injury reports after each team is eliminated (cause thats when the teams finally release the real injury reports that dont just say "hand injury"). dudes are playing with broken ribs, sprained wrists, broken fingers, etc... hell 2 years back Logan Couture played with his mouth literally wired shut because his jaw was shattered. Dude couldnt eat solid foods and had to eat thru a straw and he was still out there playing.

@@SeverancePay500 playing basketball with a brused knee (boo hoo) v playing with 3 broken ribs in a full contact sport for more than 2 months is very different. You break a rib game 1 of the playoffs and make the cup final? thats a minimum of 16 full contact games (assuming you sweep each team which is next to impossible so in reality its atleast 20-22 games) with broken ribs. Theres nothing that compares to this. Alex mack had to play 1 game with a broken ulna i believe (in the superbowl). Hocjey players play 20+ games with worse or equivalent injuries that stack the more and more you play.

The NHL and NFL playoffs are both so amazing you honestly can’t really choose a side. The NHL is amazing for great underdogs and great action while still giving the better team the best chance to win and the NFL has the incredible unpredictability and history making that can happen in just 4 games.
