Hi from Basel! Super excited about the ESC coming to Switzerland and I really hope Basel will make it! The image you‘re showing isn‘t Basel, though, but Laufenburg some dozens kilometres up the river Rhine, you might want to change that one in your video… 😉 Basel is quite bigger than that place and has some high-rise buildings…

@@ChrisCallingOf course! Love your content. ☺️ Another thought on the possible host city: Wouldn‘t it be great to have a city host the ESC that is the centre of a bi- or trinational agglomeration such as Geneva, which is almost surrounded by France, or Basel, which borders France and Germany directly? In both of these cities, crossing borders happens in a very natural and frequent way. There are e.g. numerous bus and even tram lines that don‘t stop at the Basel city and state borders, and our airport (EuroAirport Basel/Mulhouse) is the world‘s only binationally operated one (CH/FR). The Eurovision Song Contest stands for a peaceful, united Europe. Geneva and Basel are two examples of a united, borderless Europe, lived everyday by the whole regions. These two cities would fit so beautifully to the idea of Eurovision.

Definitely there are several strong contenders I think whichever city ends up hosting will do an amazing job Thank you for all the information 😊

Hi Chris! Cool to hear your take on the subject. Palexpo has not 9500 places, that’s Geneva Arena, which won’t be used. Fun fact: Geneva Arena is one of the halls of Palexpo, literally at its front. Palexpo got a capacity of 15 000. They was also the pope’s mass once with muuuch more people ☺️. Zurich is favourite again after the city council voted yes to two motion and the infrastructures are much better there. Basel wants to organise it in the stadium (capacity for concert is 40 000) with a provisory roof, the roof of st-Jakob the arena (hall) must be reinforced. Bern/Biel is very close to each other but it’s not the most realistic due to infrastructure. Otherwise connections are amazing between Bern/Biel. Keep up the good work! 🥳 Very cool video ! Yeah, it’s true what you say about the bid process, we are so pumped here 😂❤️

Btw the owner of the hallenstadion said that he would love that the eurovision song contest would be held there!
Hi, Swiss Person living in Zurich here. I'm soo happy we will finally host Eurovision again and i can't wait for the announcement. But to be honest, i really want it to be Zürich! Zürich just has everything it needs and is perfect for Eurovision. I can already see where the Eurovillage could be (Landiwiese for example would be perfect) and the area around the lake in general i just beautiful. Can't wait to welcome everyone in Switzerland next year!

«Biel» is only the German name. Please, use the official English name of Biel/Bienne which also gives credit to the fact it's officially bilingual. ;) Biel/Bienne and Berne (nota bene: with a final -e in English from England) are linked by BLS railways using the SBB CFF rail network. During the day, you have more or less 4 trains (every 15 minutes) going from one place to another (8 in both direction) for around 30 minutes ride as Biel/Bienne is the second largest city of the Canton of Berne, holds the important Federal Office of Communication (OFCOM) that deals in Switzerland with...TV, Radio and by extension...EBU - and is the seat of many watch companies and factories (Omega, Swatch, Tissot, Rolex, Milus, Cimier, Armin Strom, Doxa, Festina, Glycine, Movado, etc.) Also note that St.Gallen is *not* the name in proper English. Swiss-Germans have the extremely bad and tiresome tendency to just «translate» i.e. report same name from German into English. St Gall was Irish. And his name in English is... (shocker) Saint Gall (and not St.Gallen). ;) The fact Gilles Marchand (CEO of Swiss Broadcasting Corp. coming from French-speaking RTS) will drop his job and Susanne Wille (next CEO of SBC coming from German-speaking SRF) might also orientate a bit towards a German-speaking city to host. Note also Swiss German part never hosted Eurovision while Swiss-Italian part (Lugano) and Swiss-French part (Lausanne) already did. About Geneva: why not, a «small» Swiss association called EBU has its HQ there after all. But like Basel, it's economically shooting yourself in the foot as France and Germany could benefit more largely of hosting potentialities than Switzerland (though around Geneva, there are less opportunities to sleep in nearer France, than around Basel).

Biel/Bienne and Berne: The venue in Berne will be new and it's in the same area as the football and the Ice-hockey stadium. It's large, new, well equipped, and you can walk from the center in 15 minutes or take a tramway or the train. The area is called bern.expo. You can watch a virtual tour. The train station is Bern-Wankdorf and it's on the way to Biel. The national train company SBB will organize extra trains, like it does for all large concerts, football matches etc. It worked perfectly at the European Football Championship in 2008. So it's not even 20 minutes (without stop in Lyss) from Biel. Biel/Bienne and Berne are way less expensive than Zürich and Geneva.

@@ChrisCalling I just came back from the party for Nemo. They finally came back home and we could celebrate. It was just great. After some interviews and after recieving a trophy made of iron, so it can't break, children from Nemo's former music school sang a medley of some songs. At the end Nemo sang the code Nemo said that it feels strange to get every were abroad and being recognized. But it's really surreal when you walk on your former way to school, where you passed 1000s of times or go to the supermarket you have been many times and everyone recognizes you. Berne has one incredible advantage : Biel would help. It was clear tonight. We will all go even without being paid.
