I got the JJC in black, and the finishing quality looks to be much better than the silver one you had in the video. The black one has a soft paint and it matches my black X100F extremely nicely. Overall, very satisfied.

Good to know! Thanks for watching and sharing, Biondi! What other accessories do you use on your X100V?

@@Tech4Baba I'm also using JJC's UV filter ring (just to protect the lens from accidental scratches) and moment's cinebloom filter for night street photography 😀

Thank you for this! I'm also trying to pick the best option. I've got the JJC here now. There are actually 2 versions from JJC. I've ordered the second version as well to compare. What I don't like about the JJC is the fit in the hot shoe is so bad/loose and the grip is so long I essentially leverage it out of the hotshoe a bit in a very short time. As you've said access to the shutter speed wheel is important. I've had lensmates in the past and I'm not sure I love the idea of having to move it to use the rear wheel (it'd be fine for the shutter). But I've alway been impressed with their products in the past. The onion seems like it needs to be just a tad wider to give better access to the rear wheel, then the "grip" needs to go down not up so it doesn't make the camera taller? These things already make the camera thicker but I can't deal with thicker AND taller...

I tried a few too. Best for me is also lensmate thumbgrip Best body grip I have found is the JJC grip for the X100v. Cheers 👍

Tried few of them and found that Lensmate and squirehood one works best. Squarehood dumb up is probably the best with one flaw, there is no silicon path in the end of the rest, thus camera will get marks when pushing hard on the thumb rest.

Thanks for watching and sharing, eagleeye photo! Will check out the Squarehood one. Which one did you end up with?

Great comparison video! I’ve been using Lensmate grips on my X100 cameras for years!

The hinge can't be stated enough. I fidget, and cocking the lensmate is too fun. Sometimes i cock it like it's a film camera. It's twice as expensive, but they always make the best ones.

I disagree with your test, because you completely forgot to give an eye how to access the exposure compensation dial. I think which thumb grip you should choose, depends on your shooting style. For example I nearly always shoot in aperture mode with auto ISO and auto speed enabled. So I have no need to access the ISO and speed dial. But access to exposure compensation is elementary for my. So the Haoge is my way to go, YC is to bulky, JJC blocks the dial and Lensmate is way to expensive. Hint: If I need faster shutter speed, I choose Auto ISO slot 2 with faster predefined shutter speed.
@Randuski2 жыл бұрын
Thumb grip prevents you from accidentally spinning dials, but imo lens mate always wins. You can get to everything easily, and they just feel so much better
