Which Tudor Black Bay Should You Get? BB41 Monochrome, BB54, BB58 Comparison

I have and will keep the bb41 on jubilee bracelet and the BB54 for my 7.1 inch wrist. Though they might look very similar, they are, IMO, two different watches concerning the wearing experience. Right now, I am enjoying my bb54 on a beautiful brown-tobacco alligator strap and this neo-vintage look is just top-notch. This afternoon, under a beautiful sun, my beafy BB41 was glowing at its jubilee!

I’m a Tudor fanboy and have the Pro, Pelagos 42 blue date, gmt opaline dial and BB41 red bezel. I can’t wait to try on the 54 and gmt Coke.

Surprised you didn’t mention dial size and bezel proportions. For me, that was a huge factor - I find the bezel to dial ratio on the 58 off and prefer the 41’s the most.

Nice review! Love the comparison. I really like the watch, I think the 3-link would be great if it didn’t have the …rivets. I think the toolynesss would improve with a non rivitet 3 link!

BB58 navy blue is the one for me. Improved the bracelet with 2 Uncle Straps half links and the Steel Reef on the fly adjustment. Love it.

Did you find the 2 uncle half links helped? I’ve got 1 uncle half link for my BB58, but the fit still doesn’t feel right. Was wondering if a second half link would do the trick?

@@Andy5kp Each “half link” is more like a 2/3 link. So I use 2 “half links” together at the bend of the long clasp on the 12 side which hugs it closely. The 2 “half links” = 1 1/3 full link. This gave me an extra 1/3 full link to work with besides the 3 micro adjustments on the clasp for a better fit. So I was able to get a great fit with the 2 “half links” but also opted to add the Steel Reef 5mm on the fly adjustment link to have all the bells and whistles for my bracelet. Hope that helps.

the difference to me from that black bay 41 to the 58 is that awesome blue colour on the 58, put it on the 41 with its movement and the 58 hight. thats perfect

Great walk through! I’d choose the recent BB41 I think as they seem to have gotten the proportions right and I have a 7-inch wrist. The 58 would be excellent too… I recently saw the 54 in a shop and was shocked by how small the dial looked. My Khaki Field Auto 38 looked big in comparison as did the BB58 next to it in the window

Thanks Marc! The BB58 is great but yeah I was amazed by how much of a difference the proportion tweaks make for the BB41 in real life. Tudor did well with it. Lol yeah there's no getting around the fact that the BB54 is a small watch but it's got character!

Yep I almost bought a BB58 Blue today but no Metas and no on the fly adjustment which is why I wanted to update from my vintage TAG blue dial so I passed. I will wait. Or just trade in my black Hamilton Cooper and get the black BB41 😂😂🎉

Another top subjective and objective review TWI. I've not tried the BB54 or the BB41, I do have a BB58 black dial version though. but here are my thoughts. I love my BB58 as it was designed to look like a classic hence the guilt look and that's what I wanted when I purchased it some years ago. I love the BB41 monochrome though, its a more modern look on the classic and is more of a modern tool watch but I still prefer the Pelagos in that respect. I also really like the BB54 but if I were to split hairs I'm not too sure about the guilt dial and the monochrome bezel but as I mentioned I've not seen one in the flesh yet. I have to agree that the bezel action on the Tudor divers is incredible. If I didn't have any Tudor watches today but was looking to consider a purchase I think it would be the Pelagos 39 or the LHD. Oh and I miss the snowflake seconds hand on the new models. Now a monochrome BB54? That could be tempting. As always many thanks for sharing.

BB58 blue. Most comfortable and perfect proportions. 21mm lug width is terrible on the BB41.

Yeah I got that strap for my longines szt actually and tried it out on the BB41 and it worked really nicely by chance! But yeah i still cant believe how similar in size the BB58 and BB41 are, definitely a nice change from the BB41s of old lol!

I don't like the look of the jubilee bracelet on the Monochrome model. The 54 looks amazing but it's just too small. I think it would have worked better as an updated 58.

The BB54 is a nice watch but Watchdives do a mecaquartz homage which is superior in every way that matters (more robust and massively more accurate) all for only $90 !!!!

My watch was purchased 2 years ago from amzwatch and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.

I choose the 14060M Submariner because it delivers a modern movement in a small case, is widely available, has no date, and delivers visually what these homages wish they were. I highly recommend a rubberb strap if you want a comfy summer fit, as the tailored fit they offer avoids the annoying gap you can get with other straps. Not much more money, and it won't depreciate like any of these models. It has Rolex on the front, but I've learned to live with that.

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MaMaCoo 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.

Yeah a monochrome BB58 would be pretty cool but close to a Pelagos 39. But then again not really that close all things considered! Fingers crossed for more monochrome BBs!

best black bay is without a doubt the panda chrono, not even close in my opinion. it feels looks and wears like a proper watch, probably my favorite watch overall ever so might be biased

The other day I was trying the bezel on an exhibition submariner side by side with a bb58. Bb58 was way more satisfying, crisp, clicky. The sub felt mushy. Maybe its been over used as exhibition im not sure.

I think the difference really comes down to 60 vs 120 clicks, I totally agree that the 60 click BB bezels have a more satisfying click but for me getting a 120 click bezel to have defined clicks (albeit smoother clicks) is quite special although there could have been something wrong with the sub!

Once they slim the Pro down to the new Coke size, that'll be the balls. As for your lineup in the video, i'd choose the 54 based on size and wearability. I got the biggest wow factor when I tried that bad larry on. But I'd just wait for it to become METAS certified. Tudor needs to lock in how how they get current catalogue METAS certified and with T-fit bracelets.

Yeah a slimmed down BB Pro will be a fantastic watch no doubt I'm sure that's coming up soon. And hopefully the tfit finds it's way on to the BB58 line now that the BB58 GMT has it and then more metas watches as well every year until they all have metas movements and tfit clasps! That'll be a good day

I chose 54 because it had its own identity. Monochrome screams I can’t afford a Rolex and bb58 is less refined than 54.

Different take. For me The 54 is too small for my wrist. I can just get away with the 58. I have a blue one. I think its a better propotioned watch anyway. ¹I don't think the 41 is I can't afford a rolex. I currently have a 40mm, 2018 sub no date and a 2024 OP41. The Rolex is dominated by the ceramic bezel, I much prefer an aluminium bezel. I own a 2023 Steel and Gold blackbay, which I bought as my 11613ln steel and gold sub was battered and i let it go, no point keeping an expensive watch you're not wearing. And the tudor is better made that that 2009 rolex, by a million miles. . I'm considering the monochrome as I prefer the bezels. I'd wear both.

I think the Monochrome with the jubilee bracelet has its own identity as the jubilee would not fit the actual Submariner that feels more sporty, bulky than this Black Bay. But if you chose the oyster-style bracelet on the Monochrome, then yes it's kind of a poor man's Rolex.

I looked at the 54 first because everyone raved at how perfect it was, but I just found it so dull…my personal opinion and I hope it brings you years of joy,. I ended up with the black BB58. The 58 felt so well made and perfectly proportioned for a sports watch. It borrows from classic Tudors and Rolex without being a slave to an exact copy . It really is its own thing. The gilt bezel gives the 58 a warm feel, the red triangle offers a pop of color paying homage to the Tudor/Rolex Big Crown, the chunky coin edge crown is so satisfying to wind with a refined matching coin edge bezel and I love the snow flake seconds hand. It’s different from the more traditional lollipop style. By the way, 39 mm is on the smaller side for a modern sized sports watch. I think anything smaller is playing vintage territory.

Есть только Submariner. Всё остальное - жалкие копии. Жалею, что десять лет назад не купил себе Tudor Sub за смешные по нынешним временам деньги. Сейчас, конечно, они того не стоят. И Rolex Sub никак не оправдывают свою стоимость. А современные поделки Tudor - это просто посмешище, по моему скромному мнению. Что такое Black Bay? Это настолько стремное имя и настолько тупая маркетинговая легенда, что Tudor даже стесняются писать Black Bay на циферблатах своих часов. Поймите меня правильно, я люблю часы, я обожаю дайверские часы, но современные производители не могут мне ничего предложить, что имело бы хоть какую-то историческую ценность за разумные деньги.
