My White Knight vented tumble dryer is now 13 years old. I've seen heat pump and condenser in action at my work place and wouldn't touch either. Vented maybe a pain putting a hose out the window, but the drying results are excellent.

Hi hope you are well, I'm abit confused as to which type of tumble dryer to buy... A vented one or a condenser, if you personally had a choice which would you buy?
@How-to-repair2 жыл бұрын
Really apologise for the late reply I was away on holiday. My personal choice would always be a vented tumble dryer. They use more energy but are much more reliable. They drive in much quicker time than a condenser tumble dryer and they are the cheapest to buy on the market place, this is only my personal preference I am very much for low energy consumption machines, but the problem being they do not seem to last as long as a normal vented tumble dryer and when you consider that the price is five times more it is just not worth the money. Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year. Thank you very much for subscribing to the channel

I've just invested in a £600 hoover 11kg heatpump tumble dryer my hotpoint vented one drys three towels in 30mins my new heatpump takes 3 hours so technically I'm using the same energy as the vented one I do believe the heatpump will last much longer then the vented one I also keep at least 3 Heater elements spares for emergency as they do go bad quit often and the brass bearings and they need internal clean professional very often 😀
@How-to-repair2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew, do apologise for the late reply but I was away on holiday. As you know I do not think too much on the heat pump dryers. I think you had a bad experience with either vented or condenser tumble dryers. They are much cheaper than what you paid for a heat pump tumble dryer and I do not think your heat pump dryer will last much more than five years. I hope I'm wrong for your sake, have a great Christmas and a happy New Year. Thank you very much for subscribing to the channel as that really does help our KZbin analytics

If Indesit and Hotpoint are the same (they have the same appearance for the vented dryers for example), why do they have different prices also it seems that people complained more about Indesit. Could they have different quality for the parts? Thanks I understand that you prefer vented dryers for their simplicity but I wonder if one that comes with a 5-year warranty (for labor) and a heated pump is worth it against a vented one with only a 1-year warranty (and 10 for the parts) with half of the price? It seems that the more expensive one is worth the money and if you add the economy to the bills, the heated pump seems a better choice. Unfortunately, it seems that quality overall is terrible compared with 30 years ago. It's just a lot of added features that don't work properly...

hi. just found you & reckon you're very good & informative. can you please help, even with links, with a miele little giant 8kg dryer that just stopped heating. also do you know much about little giant washing machines. i have 3 that are currently not going. 1. 8kg - select any cycle & it makes a soft tick as opposed to the normal quite loud series of tick click when activating a cycle, then it just sits like that even if you switch it off at the wall & select different cycles. It occasionally just randomly decides to function on any cycle for the day. 2. 8kg - was running fine then heard a strange rubbing type noise, left it to wash but then it had blown the 30amp breaker & no power showing now. Also have a blanket stuck in the unlockable door. 3. 6kg - just started leaking from the back or underneath somewhere. Thanks

Hi, please use our contact us page and make sure you fill out the request for what your problem is. I will need the full model number of the identification plate and the details of your problem so that I can provide you with useful literature. A video shoot of the problem would be perfect as well. Normally, I would get back to you within 24 hours but I am on my way back from the IFA trade show in Berlin, so it can take more time to respond. Do you know of any condenser tumble dryer that's 55 or 56 cm width in UK my friend? Struggling to find. Thanks

I have a Hotpoint CTD80 Ultima tumble dryer. It started to play up you set the cycle and 5 minutes in the display would disappear after another 5 minuets it would come back. Sometimes it would flash although the cycle would continue none of the controls worked until the display returned to normal. A few days ago the display now only flashes and nothing works. I suspect it is a chip or processor that has failed. Is it possible to get a new or secondhand chip/board for this model or is it beyond ecomical repair.

Hi Buddy, Wonderful information, I have further questions on a situation that I am with- We want to put our tumble dryer in our garage as there is no place for our tumble dryer inside the home and we have decided on a Vented tumble dryer so my worries are 1. Whether a vented tumble dryer can be put in a garage in south-west England for near-freezing temperatures 2. If yes we can, then which is the best tumble dryer, we are looking for around 10KG capacities for our family's requirements Thank You, looking forward to hear your recommendation
@How-to-repair Жыл бұрын
Yes, vented tumble dryers can be used in the garage even when the temperatures go down to -5-10. as long as there is no moisture on the electronics you will be fine when it comes to buying a 10 kg machine and the cost of it as you have space in your garage. You might be better off having two cheaper machines with smaller loads, and then you always have not only a machine when one breaks down, and you have the capability of driving a lot more clothing? I hope this helps you @pnsubbu27784 please remember to subscribe to our channel as that really helps us kzbin.infoe432SAb2g08 Thanks, Paul 👍

Great information - thanks very much for your information. We purchased a Candy heat pump tumble dryer 4 years ago - if failed last week. I have concluded that the refrigerant has escaped, probably via a leak as the condenser no longer gets cold. It would be great if you could elaborate on how (if possible) you can leak detect / regas a system? Cheers

Our Beko Tumble Dryer tried to kill us! It was only 10 months old when we came downstairs in the morning to find that the machine was hot despite the dial being at the off position. On opening the door you could see the heater glowing through the holes at the back of the drum. We unplugged and called Beko who sent an engineer out to repair it. It turns out that a relay on the control board was stuck on AND both the overheat fuses had failed! If this machine had been a little older, the fluff would have caught fire. Despite being only 10 months old, we took it to the tip. We will never buy a Beko anything again!!

Scary! Currently considering Beko having had Bosch laundry machines for the majority of my adult life. I can’t afford Bosch any longer & having looked at a lot of machines in Currys, the location of their water collection reservoir & robustness of plastics (Hoover & Candy especially) leave a lot to be desired. Because of the price of energy, I am leaning towards a heat pump machine but do worry about compressors/gases etc adding another layer of complexity should anything go wrong. Would love to see tear downs evaluating & comparing component quality. Meile always seen as high end, would love to know how Beko & Bosch stack up against that!

I’ve no idea why you took a 10 month old dryer to the tip when you could have had a full refund unless of course it fell off the back of a truck without a receipt 😂😂

This isn't what I was expecting at all. Where's my tumble dryer review?
@How-to-repair Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you took offence to this, but the video was designed to stop people being tricked by manufactures. The superstores sell all brands and the video is there to try and save people money when they are buying one model of machine which is 60 £70 more expensive than another model which is exactly the same machine and example, being the Hotpoint and the indesit which are in this video. Also a lot of people are paying an awful lot of money for heat pump tumble dryers which are not giving a beneficial saving over the lifespan of the machine the technology is great, but there is no beneficial saving if the machine has to go to the garbage in five years because it is an economical to repair. I will be doing individual machines, but there are so many choices to the general public. It is quite confusing. Just for future reference for yourself if you have the capability of a vented tumble dryer I would always choose this because it is not only the cheapest it is easier to repair. If you are unable to vent the tumble dryer to an external wall and you have to have a condenser or heat pump then I would choose a condenser again because the machine is serviceable. heat pump tumble dryers are fantastic technology, but the combination of refrigeration process with dry and close is not lasting the test of time. I'm sorry you found the title click bait, but it was not aimed to be so I only make videos to assist people in repairing appliances and hope they have the loyalty if we are able to help to buy appliance parts of us, I hope that answers your question with regards for dislike to this video again. My apologies
