Which Type of Super Glue Should I Use for Model Rockets?

There are many different viscosity types of super glue (called 'CA'), and you may be wondering which one you should use. In this video, we'll go over the four types we have at Apogee Components, and when you'd use them when building model rocket.

Great informative video. Useful for all, but especially for us "Born Again Rocketeers" coming from the days when we used wood glue and maybe a bit of "Testor's Plastic Cement" for everything. My own experience way back in the early 1980s was that super glue wasn't very good for balsa. I had built a glider and had it all set up ready to go, but in testing, a single impact caused all joints to fail...LOL...

Yes, I started building again and have been using the glue I always used. This might just have opened up a new level of possibilities.

Good video. I have been using CA glue for sealing balsa, so I'm glad to see it's a "thing". A video dedicated to balsa finishing with CA would be good, especially if you use particular steps to smooth the surfaces after applying and sanding the first CA layer. And PS, I use the odorless type because you need to apply a lot more than usual. Thanks. ))

Excellent info! Thanks... I've always had a question...Super glues are strong in tension but weaker in shear, which is why if you glue your fingers together, you can't (and shouldn't!) "pull" then apart but rather gently slide them back and forth to break the bond... Does the relative weakness in shear ever cause concern? This is basically why I still tend to prefer wood glues for attaching fins or at least for filleting them. Thoughts?

*_CA glues are stronger than wood glues and sheer isn't a issue if applied adequately over the matting surfaces. Note my experiences may be different than yours but cleaner installation and over all apparence compared to wood glue is alone is worth it to me._*

Thanks i didn't need to know this for now because I use estes and recently learned about apogee last month and I was interested so I'd be happy to consider this video in the near future!

Glue sticks to that too. We forgot to mention it, but we use "Happy Hands." It works good for removing the glue later.
