I know a lot of people aren’t fans of Conkeldurr, but I absolutely love it. I’ve used it multiple times in Pokémon draft league and Conkeldurr with the ability guts goes crazy. Also, Reuniclus has probably the best set of abilities ever for singles: regenerator and magic guard

They haven’t done anything with Scrafty, have they? Fun, unusual typing, great ability options in Intimidate and Moxie, good defenses (65 hp, 115 Def, 115 Special defense) to make up for its poor speed and a decent base attack stat (90). Its level-up movepool in Gen 5 is nothing special, but it does get some great coverage options by TM.

I enjoyed making a broken Scrafty in White by breeding with a male Axew to get a Scraggy with Dragon Dance. A Scrafty with Moxie and Dragon Dance is just too dangerous

I have tried out some gen five pokemon that I didn't use before on my latest pokemon black playthrough, Conkeldurr was one of those pokemon that I've also tried out swoobat and Gigalith for the first time to. I'll probably try out a few more pokemon before I bet the game again. My most favorite gen 5 pokemon so far are Carracoasta, Amoongus, and chandelure. I may have a few more favorites later on. So I'll definitely give you an update on that when that time comes.

Sigilyph is a very unassuming looking pokemon by stats alone, but its quite strong with a varied moveset and two great abilties and has been an RU staple! Hoping that sigilyph gets an evolution someday so we can see what sigilyph can do with stronger stats, and so it can look even cooler! Surprised to not see sigilyph right behind reuniclus on this list!

Sigilyph can be pretty good, but considering casual story play is a big factor in these lists it suffers for needing a fair amount of setup, so doing that EVERY battle would add literal days of time to your overall save file, which would not be fun...

Gen V gave rise to one of my favourite fire pokemon: Chandelure. One of the highest special attack stats ever and fast, and can also use Shadow Ball with STAB? Yes please. I know some players have gripes with "object" pokemon but I think the Chandelure line is nicely designed as a whole

I really like Sawk (not so much Throh, design and in-game wise); Stephen's Sawk definitely helped me to further appreciate it. But it's also an early route Fighting-type, found in the same place as Timburr, while not needing evolution or even a trade in order to excel, especially right off the bat. It doesn't hit AS hard as Conkeldurr, but base 125 ATK is PHENOMENAL for a Pokemon you can find right before the 2nd gym, which is even a gym it excels as fighting against! It also has a fairly decent base speed of 85 (great for early game), and 2 great abilities in Sturdy and Mold Breaker. It even excels in a Kalos playthrough (with mine surviving an entire Nuzlocke all the way to the Hall of Fame), where it is found shortly before the 3rd gym. Although severely overshadowed by the free Mega Lucario, Sawk is not to be underestimated in Kalos either. That was longer than I intended it to be.

I agree with you on Emboar. I don’t see how most fans see Tepig as the weakest Unova starter when Emboar and Samurott are both wicked strong and have good coverage. Serperior, like most of the grass starters, typically only have Grass and Normal type moves, with few exceptions through TM’s, Egg Moves and Move Tutor attacks. Golurk, Excadrill, and Krookodile will always be some of my favorite Ground types. Golurk is a living tank, Krookodile definitely looks like a dark type, and Excadrill has great balance in Speed, HP, and Power

Idk Zebstrika and Blitzel to me need a few buffs to make them more usable being fast and decent attackers doesn't carry it very well and being a physical electric type without a second typing is not great like maybe Zebstrika could of been given a normal electric typing could of given it more stab options like return or double edge imo.

As a kid I overlooked so many gen 5 Pokémon because my older sister warned me about the super high evolution levels. A lot of them she exaggerated by 10 to 20 levels because siblings tend to be jerks but a chunk of those were true. Due to how my ADHD presents itself patience isn’t easy for me 😅 and grinding is way too boring. I tend to be high energy and if whatever I’m doing can’t keep up I get bored

@@emperorcubone I always felt its STAB movepool kind of hindered it somewhat. It only learned two fighting moves naturally, one of them needing the move reminder. And you had to move tutor fire punch. I used it quite a lot in multiple Black 2 playthroughs and liked it, but I hated how much more annoying and tedious it was to get the moveset I wanted in comparrison to the previous Fire/Fighting starters.

I'm not sure about Emboar's inclusion, to be honest. Serperior may be reliant on its Hidden Ability, but so is Emboar. Emboar has tons of HP, but unflattering defences and common weaknesses, as well as its movepool characterised by recoil moves (further self-damaging with Reckless) and low speed means it's just not tough enough to last long, considering that it's supposed to be a tank.

Serperior is fast and defensive, which is kind of annoying but after a Coil or two it can wreck with Leaf Blade and heal up with a Giga Drain. Emboar tries to be a mixed attacker like Infernape but without the speed to back it up, it's going to get hit first and likely faint. It feels like Emboar should have had a lower Special Attack and more in its Defense stats, which would have made more sense for its tanky design

As good as Seismitoad is, why in the gen 5 games can it not learn 1 physical water type move in either BW or BW2. Like for some reason it does not get access to the waterfall hm, it can learn surf just fine but no waterfall. The level up moveset does not help either with a whopping 2 physical moves at 39 and 44. Meaning for the majority of the playthrough, you're mostly using 85 special attack compared to 95. You are honestly better off not using seismitoad as a water type offensively and pair it with jellicent for example (yes the same special attack stat but is a better wall)

I think this video concept is quite a boring topic to be honest. It would be better if you not only pointed out which aren’t updated but also suggested what the update should be, or rank the 3 who most need updating and what those updates should be.

Those are topics worth talking about too, but the point of these videos is to highlight Pokemon that have been "left behind" or overlooked since by nature of the others getting new evos/forms they're getting all the publicity.
