There’s an infinite supply of whiskey in Kentucky, and the purchasing options for enthusiasts grow by the day. Here’s the breakdown of what I bought and why in one day of shopping around Louisville.

Drew looks like you had a very productive trip to Kentucky. Great advice on checking the grocery stores liquor depts. I shop at Kroger and Meijer and have found some good bottles there at MSRP!

Great haul! ET BIB and JE DANT BIB are both great daily sippers and great bargains. All those bottles are available here in Austin except the old Masters Keep. It’s weird what’s available from state to state. I guess that’s the allure of whiskey. Cheers🥃

Just got back from Kentucky and found this video! Also from Wisconsin, I didn't come back with anything as exceptional as you did but did get a bottle of Old Forester 1920 for under $60 and I grabbed a couple of bottles of Old Bardstown BIB which are about $18 bucks each. I also came back with a Hirsch Horizon which I've never seen here in 'Sconnieland. But anything from Buffalo Trace was nowhere to be seen! Something even the shopkeepers there say they're having trouble getting. But one thing I heard time and again was "You're from Wisconsin and you didn't bring any cheese?" So next time you (or anyone else) goes from Wisconsin goes to Kentucky bring lots of cheese (particularly those squeeky cheese curds). But next time I go, I'll have a better idea of what to keep an eye out for. Thanks for sharing!

Hope you enjoyed your time in KY! Still surprised that the KC 12 CS still sits on the shelf around louisville. I have the 120.5 and 124.3 versions. I was also able to get a bottle of the silver dollar blanton's pick and the old HH bib from the pearl.

Nice Haul! That Early times Bib is everywhere here in IL, I grabbed a few bottles as it may be going away and I can say I’m one of the few that don’t like it, but most people do. Wish I could find the Knob creek 12 year cask strength. Anyway good vid.

Central City Liquor in Des Moines IA special ordered in a case of Early Times. I picked up a bottle. Didn't realize they had been bought out. May need to run back down there.

Having just started getting into bourbon about 4 months ago, this video makes me feel great about what I’ve gotten so far in my collection. Just this month I have bought: Early Times @ $21.99 3 McKennas @ $36.99 each Colonel EH Taylor @ $39.99 Bardstown Discovery Series 3 @ $119.99 Masters Keep Revival @ $139.99 All without leaving Texas! Looking forward to watching your reviews on these and tasting along... although with my unrefined palate and broken nose I probably won’t get all the notes and flavors you taste LOL. Enjoy!
@rjmac5093 жыл бұрын
Consider yourself very fortunate then! I have personally never seen Early times, McKenna I’ve seen cheapest for $51.99, assuming you’re referring to EH Taylor small batch cheapest I could find was 49.99, have not seen Bardstown, and saw Masters Keep once for 299.99 based in NY. Sounds like I have to do some bourbon shopping in either Kentucky or Texas to find anything. Cheers

In Ohio they have state stores when the alcohol level goes at or above 42 proof...is it the same way in Kentucky or can you buy in any store?
@kyleriley97863 жыл бұрын
Being from Kentucky, its still difficult to find allocated bourbons. Just like how you said different states sell different bourbons, someone was telling me how they went to California and they ended up buying a whole case of weller for cheap because the shop said they couldn't get rid of it. So, just because its made in Kentucky, it doesn't mean it will be easy to obtain here. If you're taking a driving trip here, I recommend checking alcohol shops all along the way. Never know what you will find and their prices.
@wdh10683 жыл бұрын
I’m in California and here I can’t even get Weller Special Reserve less that $100 and that’s if I can find it! I want to know where your friend went shopping!
@kyleriley97863 жыл бұрын
@@wdh1068 I guess it all depends on the area people are shopping. Even within a 50 mile radius, all the shops around me differ in what they have and their prices. You just have to find the right place. For about 3 months of searching, I still havent found weller at suggested retail price. Most places I find that have allocated bourbon in stock are 3 to 4 times more expensive than they should be. As far as finding bourbons that aren't marked up, Kroger is where I have found most of them. Although, talking and making connections with them has been a big reason as to why. Just last week I walked in, they told me to hold on one second, and brought out 4 different allocated bourbons to see if I wanted any of them. Making connections is the best way to get them, and it makes it more enjoyable.

@@DrewPWhiskey Watching this episode was like Christmas morning. That Master's Keep and Michter's....WOW!!!! What a find!!!! I've been looking for those two along with the Knob Creek 12Cask Strength but here in Florida is tough. Totalwine got a case of Michter's Toasted Barrel Rye one morning but their employees picked them up told their friends, friends etc...gone in an hour. Hate it. Willet Estate Rye 4yrs I've seen here go for $80 secondary and available. Blanton's and EH Taylor Small Batch here secondary is at disgusting $139-150...! Then I was told by secondary Blanton's will go up to $200 due to COVID-19. Wtf? I've found 2 bottles of Henry McKenna 10yrs BIB here at Target for $34 each, secondary is already at $79. ELIJAH Craig Barrel Proof is one of my favorites, Target had it at $59, Walmart at $65, secondary @$80, still readily available. I drove through Kentucky and visited all liquor stores near l-75 in 2019 and I didn't get as lucky as you did. I Might have to spend the night and venture further into the State next time around. Thanks for sharing.

Kentucky is famous for BOURBON--so, Most distilleries I live by are BOURBON...Not whiskey....Not saying that KY don't make it mind ya, but they are MOSTLY known for their Bourbon. Even Four Roses, and Wild Turkey are best known for having a LOT of people show up for their tastings...that is where pizza places in this area go absolutely NUTS bringing in pizzas...Now I don't know much about Louisville, but now that place is KNOWN for Whiskey...most places I hear of anyways. But come down towards Lexington from 64 and hit frankfort exit, towards Lawrenceburg and you will no doubt hit the bourbon areas.
