1:40 I'm not saying I agree with Destiny, but I do wonder where the line is. I will joke about hitler dying, I will joke about terrorists dying, 'ill joke about a pedo dying. I feel like the only time it's not ok to joke about someone dying is when they are in your tribe and as American I want to think all other Americans are in my Tribe including Trump and the people at his rallies. But what if that is not true, what if they are against me, what if they don't see me as in their tribe, what if they see some of my lgbt friends as outside the tribe or if those people feel that they are seen as abominations by that side? By jokin about the deaths Destiny reveals he does not see these people as in our Tribe and that is scary because there is a lot of us and when to tribes exist in competition things tend to get violent which I don't want to escalate. But is it fair to attack or blame Destiny for him not viewing these people as in his tribe when they have done and support all the things that they do, when as Destiny says the try to usurp our system for their own ends and make decision after decision that harms the system and even the world at large? 3:35 See and I think that is Destiny's point is that its not just some person on the other side of polticis it is a fundamentally different tribe that is using our own tribe's rules against us, that is how he sees it. Again I'm not certain I agree but by what standards and methods would we determine that to be true or false. How do we feel about the citens of nazi germany, not to say it is that bad yet, but what should they have done, how should they have felt and acted? 7:10 if its over then what options are left? This is more dangerous than Destiny's rhetoric in my opinion. I truly do not want a greater esclaation of political violence but doing the same thing that got us here in the first place does seem a little dumb. I think there are a subset of human beings that like and support extreme rhetoric and I think having zero representation for that group could be a bad thing, I don't think congress or Biden should be fanning the flames, but if you get kicked over and over again and all you do is wait for more that is weakness not strength and people do not want to follow someone who is weak, clearly look at Trump. I don't want more violence, I don't want a dictator, but I'm not fully convinced that calling out the truth of what is going on and how that makes you feel will cause bad outcomes. I think shielding the right from the consequences of their actions and rhetoric only emboldens them further, but I also only think that is true for some people not all, because we have to remember we are dealing with large groups of individual human beings with different morals and beliefs, not single monothlic structures that think and act the same. 9:07 I used to think this too but I'm not so sure anymore. It's easy to point to some crazy problems that went unaddressed as cause for radicalization, but we don't know that is actually the case. It could be these people just have a persecution complex and would have found any excuse to point to, it could be a consequence of the way communications and social media are set up right now to filter people by disposition and then accidentally led the ones more prone to radicalizaioytn down that path, we don't trluy know the cause. But I also believe that part of the problem was they lying that sowed distrust, but Destiny is not lying is being as honest and geunione as he can be about his feelings and that alone could be a wake up call for some people. You are telling him either to not feel the way he does or to lie about it to others or at least not talk about it I'm arguing against which here so I just want to say again that I don't default agree with Destiny, I'm just uncertain about it all and I don't think it is as obvious as it might seem. I don't think call to more violence would be helpful, but I'm not certain joking around about people and exposing you see them as outside your tribe is necessarily a bad thing at this stage, I think that pretending some of these people still are in our tribe and are worth consideration might just be us covering for them and end up causing more harm than good. You can love and respect a wild animal but don't be surprised if it attacks you and don't give it the case to hurt you. Emotionally I don't like joking about the random audience member that died, but logically I can see a world where they need to see the real consequences of their choices, like how a father only accepts their gay daughter after they cut contact with him. Exclusion form a tribe is a powerful social pressure, of course part of the problem is that sometimes that just drives them to another tribe to seek comfort, but for those types I'm not sure if there is anything you can do at all for them. I'm not even sure how many centrists or undeiceded are left either, you have to be willfully ignorant about polticis to not have an opinion and those types don't vote or just vote the way of their social circles anyways. I appraicte you Whick and your position, but I figured I'd share my own perspective and ponderings on things so far, above all I hope we can find a way to build a world that all of us can live freely in and pursue what makes us happy.

Yeah, thought that was acceptable here. Not saying violence is ok, in case that needs to be said. Obviously sad that the supporter is dead. However, I was raised with standardized testing and I'd say certain decisions lead him to dangerous risk. Typically that's called context. Anywho, appreciated your comment, hopefully we can get out of the tribal mind state someday.

@@mdlr5663 after thikning about more I think the reason it is complicated is because both are correct and both strategies need to be used. The leaders of the left should genuinely feel the way which does, but there also needs to be people supporting the left that feel the way Destiny does because there are all kinds of people in this world and democracy is about appealing to the majority of them. I think to have a weak reaction and no combative representation at all is a mistake, but I also don't think everyone should be adopting Destiny's take, I even think it is beneficial for him to exist just for others in the group to fight with him on it. Who is this "everyone else"? Maybe a lot of DGG who would just repeat everything he says, but I'd like to think that most people have the common decency to condemn the shooting of innocent people in the crowd. What about that person who said they needed to take a break due to a friend's mother being in the crowd and feeling shook up, then Destiny tells him and his family to go and F themselves? Are people just "too afraid" to say that? If you are, then you're not even on the edge at this point. You are the edge.

@@ericrhodes186 It's because people like destiny who I considered one of the reasonable people on the left are acting no different that the extremist on that side. I already have a tendency to be anti left, but I was anti Trump becomes *he's not a conservatives* he's a New York liberal. Democrats have gone far too left so I have no reason to vote for that side. With all this said, I wasn't going to for Trump to spite his loyalist fans (I don't like them) But given what's happening and so many people on the left being okay with it seals the deal for me. Destiny isn’t wrong. This idea that the left is supposed to always take the moral high ground is why the left loses so much. It’s like wrestling in the 80s. You’ve got Sting and Ric Flair. Sting is way stronger, but Flair does all the cheating Sting never would. And so Flair wins a lot of matches he never should. It stops working when Sting puts in all black and starts hitting dudes with a bat. Now he can take out a whole gang of Flair’s on his own. You want to feel morally superior, or you want to save lives? Which matters more to you?

The idea that the left has been taking the moral high ground is laughable. If you think anyone in washington wouldn't unplug your mother's life support to charge their cellphone you're fooling yourself.

Destiny is becoming more based and black pilled. I'm starting to see the sense in using more forceful rhetoric to try and set the talking points rather than playing defense all the time. I wonder, is it more efficacious to try and appeal to the middle, or should the left try to energize their base? It seems to be that Destiny is frustrated that the civil and bridge building approach doesn't seem to have worked at all.
