Okay this game is AMAZING 😭 I just wanted to explain the bit of confusion I had for the gameplay and during the boss fight at the end... So what happened is, my eyes were RIVETED on the fact that I now have 'Cura', so I didn't notice I actually indeed had Blizzard with Cloud... so yeah, sorry for that 🤣 I also grasp the mechanics towards the end of this episode, and I've done the combat tutorials in between now and next episode, so gameplay will be a lot better moving forward! It's a lot a new things to learn at first, but my God it's just amazing. Whimsy! I absolutely LOVED this episode! The Grasslands are so beautiful and, dare I say, whimsical! You did awesome on Midgardsomr! You don't need to apologize for not playing perfectly! I know you will be fantastic at the game once you master those mechanics - and you will! In regards to what I'd like to see, personally, you've pretty much already figured it out! I'd love to see your first reactions to the individual world intels, but beyond that, they don't gotta be recorded! Main story and side quests are great!

Whimsy you actually did amazong against Midardsormr. The devs said they modeled boss levels to the level you wpild have if you do 25-30% of the sidequests. If you play in dynamic difficulty, even if you 100% of the side stuff, the bosses and enemies level up with you, so it would still be challenging. For the side stuff, I would love to see the side quests (some of them are really fun), the protorelics quest, the summon battles, and there are some optional bosses with Chadley's intel. That would great too.

Chadley being a cyborg created by Hojo is revealed on Remake, when you leave the simulator in the Shinra building he’ll greet you and tell you about himself but only if you complete all of the battle intel missions. So it’s easily missable.

You’re probably well ahead and figured it out at this point but if not, they DO generally warn you when it’s going to be long before you can return to an area. In the case of Kalm they didn’t warn about being locked out because it’s a very short section before you can return.

For what it’s worth, the side stuff is all interesting for me at least! And some of it does play into what happens in the main quest. That said mixing the exploring and side stuff in with the main quest is a good idea, it’s very easy to get sucked into hours of exploring at a time.

Plus, Rebirth changed how side content works. Progressing the story at certain points only temporarily locks the player out and when the story has progressed enough, players can go back and do side stuff they missed out. Players no longer miss out on side stuff for "accidentally" progressing the story.

Collecting Intel and clearing those icons off a region map might be more of a 'do when it makes sense' but I'll argue that the sidequest missions have lots of high quality story and character content and I'd vote that you think about playing through them as part of the 'main path'. :)

1:42:02 that icon will show up at the very bottom, where the ATB command is explained, not next to the ability itself. I wouldn’t worry too much about doing what is enjoyable for us, so much as what’s enjoyable for yourself as well. While the world is open, the story is still pretty linear, but you can always go back and check out other quests and missions at almost any point. Including the stuff in Kalm you may have missed, which I’m sure you may have discovered by now!

This whole expirience is probably very overwhelming for Aerith. She was never outside of Midgar in her whole life. So being outside is probably as scary as it is exciting. That's mostly why she is afraid of the open sky. Aerith lived in the undercity and wasn't exposed to so much open space, nature, and world. Unlike Barret, Tifa or Cloud she never saw mountains, grasslands, desserts or sea. It's ironic since she is Cetra who is connected to the planet and nature, but she had the least contact with outside world out of their little crew.

Make sure you go back and do all the regions quests. The protorelic stuff is great. You’ll miss out on tons of stuff if you skip.

Now juxtapose in your mind what Sephiroth did in Chapter 1 with what transpires in the Mogstool. xD This mood whiplash is what I was missing in FF 16, it really is a must in FF games, hahah. As for sidequests - there are quite a few good ones, so I'd say it's up to you. Longer episodes are always welcome for this series, anyway!

This is now one of my favorite games of all time. I just can not get enough. One of the biggest things to know about this game is that the open world is all about convenience. They made everything SO convenient. You can also switch party members in the menu in combat settings and tap square to swap party members individually. PLEASE do side missions and world intel it adds a lot to the story. Even if it’s off KZbin and on your own time.

One thing to remember, characters build synergy charges when they USE atb charges on things like abilities, spells, etc. These charges can be used on synergy abilities

Yeah, Chadley being a cyborg is something he reveals only when you complete all of his battle intel missions, so many people don’t know because they didn’t complete all of them 😂 Just because he makes material I HAD to complete all of his missions to see what his last one would be anyway, and got the scene which confirmed my suspicions that he was indeed some sort of AI/cyborg

It's your playthrough, so play as much side content as you want. I think most of us would love to see the protorelic quests, the summon battles, some boss battles that are optional, minigames and quests that increase your affinity with the characters. I would say that the chocobo treasure, part of the exploration, non boss fights that are part of the intel misdions and finding the lifespring can be cut ( I would still watch it because the combat is so damn good, and the world has so much charisma).

Barrett is hard to find so most players completely miss out on the opportunity to have his conversation for character development. I think there should be a pop-up that says talk to all your companions before climbing the tower. All other interactions are available upon return.

48:45 "That's gonna take a while to get used to" You might wanna try changing the settings for the menu. There's a settings option for the game to REMEMBER the cursor position when exiting the menu. At the moment, it is set to FORGET - change it to REMEMBER

The first part of the game with the jazz music playing when you get out of bed and stuff I loved but so far I haven’t really been nearly as blown away but music in this game, probably because they recorded over 400 tracks which to me is overkill on so many levels. Not that I don’t love some of the tracks part one just had a lot more that fit perfect - can’t say I’ve been totally thrilled about everything this game does but but no means does that mean I’m not positively thrilled to be enjoying it❤ kind of wish I was better at gaming with mini games.. think I’m a little bit further ahead right now but I haven’t REALLY been investing my time in exploring everything everywhere. I’m only interested in the story.

You probably already have made up your mind on how you want to approach side content in this game, but from what I've seen quests that you pick up from town boards are pretty good and most of the time include some nice interactions between the main characters. And character interactions is what makes a huge part of this game's charm. It's only Chadley-related stuff what I personally would cut, if you want to cut something. While it's still fun to play through, it's arguably a little less fun to watch

This game is so much fan Combat and story and exploration with chocobo is amazing and there are other thing to try do side content it’s worth it and relationships between characters its important I would advise you to train on combat settings instead of choosing ability every time learn the shortcuts with l1 it’s especially with cloud and tifa because they more close combat And synergy skills are great but you don’t need to use em on weak enemy they are not fill so fast I would save them as long as you attack and use abilities the bar will charge and you can use it And one more advice you to try every character have the 4 elements fire ice wind and lightning it’s so helpful thank you I play this but I love to see your playthrough

"Why would Sephiroth save us now?" Now that you've completed the game, you won't mind discussing everything that went on with Rebirth. Obviously, you know that Sephiroth controls Cloud thanks to the Jenova cells in Cloud. Why does it need to be Cloud? He hasn't degraded like the other robed figures. As such, Cloud is still useful, especially with regards to the black materia. As for Sephiroth randomly appearing, he randomly appeared in the reactor as well in an attempt to kill Tifa. (Incidentally, that video is why I'm commenting here.) I'm not saying Sephiroth was or wasn't there. But, that would explain why no one else saw him. As for whether it was Cloud or Sephiroth who killed Midgardsormr, I digress.

Uh yeah, so the revelation that Chadley is a cyborg created by Hojo was revealed in the original game if you cleared all his combat challenges and completed all the VR challenges (but not the Weiss one, thankfully, since it was only added in by the Yuffie DLC)

Please play queensblood and the other main minigame (youll know) in your playthrough they are fun to watch imo. I agree though that the exploration side of things may not be as hype as main story stuff. I agree that you should do 1 main story plrtion per video! Also, most people are dying to this midgardsormr on dynamic mode. Hes definitely a challenging second boss.. this game seems to be significantly harder than remake and i love that. Remake was too easy.

Unfortunately, when making videos, you want people to watch as much as possible, and in a perfect world, ideally never skip anything. Skipping leads to bad average view duration, which in turn leads to tanking your channel in the algorithm. Just something to keep in mind when KZbinrs ask that kind of question, that's part of the reason why we ask!

As for playing off camera, I vote no. This is more a react of a new fan than a story playthrough. Also there is only one first time for everything and you might acidentally get across some seriously catchy OST's while free roaming and there is no coming back and saving those moments. Time stamps are good enough for me and might as well become a good research tool for yourself, while revisiting the footage for insights and theorycrafting.

I liked the Remake more so far. Unique greenish Midgar setting.. combat wasnt tol overloaded. Synergy abillities are fine.. but synergy actions are way too much to deal with in my opinion. And i like more condensed linear experiences than openworld stuff i feel

About synergy, I know you've already learned this by now but if someone else is wondering. You have 2 types of synergy. Synergy skills and synergy abilities, remember this when you upgrade your folios. Synergy skills - hold block (default set at R1) and chose square, triangle, circle or x to chose the synergy skill you want to use. These are useful with easy enemies and short fights since you don't have to build up your synergy bars to use them. Synergy abilities - to build up synergy abilities you have to ues special ability attacks/spells and items, basically everything that uses ATB with all the characters you want to synergize with. Like for Cloud use focus trust, braver, tripple slash, spells, items and so on to build up his synergy bars (the small dots right under the ATB bar). This is why synergy abilities is most useful in boss fights and longer fights since then you get the time to build up your synergy bars, in small fights you really don't get the time to use it. I hope this is helpful because it wasn't explained so well in the game. Maybe it is explained better in the manual, I haven't read all of it.
