Never even thought to add more loose strands, so thanks for that! Also, for the knot nerds, she's attached it to the fall with a sheet bend. Very similar to how a bowline works, but it is with two cords instead of one, like a bowline.

For the nerdier of the knot nerds, the sheet bend is ABOK#1, aka the first knot found in Ashley's book (Bible) of knots. It is such a useful knot that the knot king himself decided to make it #1 in his book of more than 2000 knots. This is a great use for the sheet bend though, and it's seems such an obvious choice for this now that I've seen it. We whipcrackers (and our falls) thank you April!

thanks april. your channel is excellent. i especially agree with reworking the twine after making the knots. i had happened upon that on my own when making my first few poppers. great knots. i can hardly wait to make my first popper with extra fray. made about 6 regular poppers about 6 wks ago, and finished my first whip 2 wks ago. been braiding for over 20 years, and plan to learn how to make quality whips. again, thanks for your extensive teaching.

I believe your "half bowline" is a sheet bend.

I really like the demonstration using larger rope. That made it much easier to follow. I'm new at this, and the last 6 I've made haven't been pretty. Thanks for the video. ; )

Ok ,ok after a few attempts, I finally got it. Had to make a knot on the 8" strands, but it's working great. Awesome idea thanks alot.

You should use the paracord for your example. This is easy to explain but hard as hell to manage with paracord.

Hey just a quick question, does the length of the loose strands at the end of the popper matter? If so whats an ideal length. Mines about half an inch.
@AprilJenniferChoi6 жыл бұрын
Yes. You can tune it to your whip by making one with like 10 cm or 4" of tail, cracking it, then trimming off a mm or two, and repeating until you find the Loudest point. For me it's usually around the 40 - 50 mm (1.5 to 2 inch) range.

It might do diligence to draw or tape a box around an area of the table to keep your hands inside the camera frame? I didn't get to see some of the twisting because your hands were out of frame. Thank you for all your videos!

Why is this better April? Is it louder? .......................
@AprilJenniferChoi7 жыл бұрын
MrCosmos110 it's not "better" just an alternative. Pros: Longer Life Span, Rounder Sound Cons: More time to make Sound can be tuned by trimming, shorter filaments with a wider base would knot less for the same loudness
