It hurts, of course. You have to move a lot. There are many escapes. First of all: I don't want to hit the opponent at any cost if I get hit this way.

This fight was semi contact (that's what we call it). Fighting at full distance, without close combat. Only hits in the opponent are counted, but of course we do not want to get hit. It's important to be quick, have reflexes and do not panic :)

What's the perfect length for fighting? 7,8, or 9 foot length?

The shorter the whip, the more aggressive the fight is - it's more difficult to escape when the whip is fast and light. I prefer long whips and heavy - if someone moves quickly, then you can run away. For me 9 ft is the best.
