Do you use a dedicated stand mixer attachments? Or do you use the same ones you cook with?
@WilsonHomestead2 жыл бұрын
I just use the same ones and wash them afterward.

You made no mention of the ratio of water to flakes in your magnesium oil, or water. For instance 1 cup magnesium flakes to 1 cup of distilled water. What ratio do you use?
@Earth2Flo-v6f3 ай бұрын
Half cup magnesium flakes, 3 T. distilled water. This is what a lady said on her channel.

@@Earth2Flo-v6f I might find that useful, thank you. I think I will go with those proportions for my first attempt at a butter. So far I have been using a simple magnesium flake water spray. I don't really care for the feel of it, and at first it was too strong, and I started having a skin rash. I diluted it to around a 3/1 ration at first which was too strong, and now a 1/1 ratio, but as I said earlier I don't really care for its skin feel.

@@lenwenzel7440 I hope you find a good solution, it’s expensive trying to make these soaps and body butters. I’m just now getting all the stuff bought, I’ve spent at least 300 on supplies and haven’t made anything yet! Good luck!

@@Earth2Flo-v6f Hi Flo, I hear you. So far I've spent around $150 Canadian, and only have almond oil, bees wax, shea butter, coconut oil, magnesium flakes, and some essential oils. My first attempt will probably be with vanilla, magnesium, distilled water, bees wax, almond oil, and shea butter. I am planning a very small batch, which I will stir up with my immersion blending wand. I am not sure when I will attempt making a butter though, as at the moment I have been trying to work out the ratio of magnesium flakes to water so I can see what levels of strength work well. That takes time, as I don't have the resources to make a lot of batches, and want to use everything I make. If you wish you can pass on your results for your recipes, and results. I am always keen to hear. Good luck to finding great results for yourself!

@@lenwenzel7440 so today I made my first batch of anything since starting all of this. I have to laugh at ,y self because I spent enough money to buy very healthy products for the rest of my life, I’m 71, just have started this because I have a disease that would fair better if I use healthy products for skin. My body butter turned out ok but it is kinda greasy but my skin looks really moisturized! I found a pretty easy recipe for it on KZbin, Mango Butter by Renee Barnett, I used half mango, half shea, like I said, turned out ok for being my first time but I will be searching for a recipe that is less greasy. Thanks for responding and I wish you luck on your endeavor. Your in Canada? I’m in OK.

Did it separate after you made it within a few days
@WilsonHomestead2 жыл бұрын
No, it stays whipped and fluffy until it melts again. So make sure not to store it somewhere too warm.
@lenwenzel74403 ай бұрын
From the videos I have watched, it seems to depend on how much the butter is whipped. I am passing on what I have heard, so this is not first hand. I hear the most frequently that you should only whip for a short period, let it cool off, and repeat the whipping process several more times. The result is a very whipped cream, or butter with lots of air in it, and a very light weight cream. That seems to not separate as easily, and last longer. Some people make small batches, which makes sense to me. Good luck, and feel free to let us know how it goes. I recently picked up the supplies I need to make my batches but I am still experimenting with water to magnesium proportions, to see what helps me the most. I don't want to waste anything, and intend to fully use what I make so it tends to take time.

Oils/butters will separate from the magnesium oil (made with water). It might not happen right away, but it will, and the end result will be nasty. You need an emulsifier and a preservative. So tired of seeing people mix oils and water together thinking they have a cream or body butter or trying to use beeswax as an emulsifier.
@WilsonHomestead Жыл бұрын
Then just use it before that happens 😂 I’ve had this last months without separating. Why can’t you just let people do what works for them?? 🤣
@lenwenzel74403 ай бұрын
The separation sounds like a very good reason to only make small batches. Have you ever tried using lecithin as a fat source?
