Lethal Performance

Күн бұрын

We took our Whipple Supercharged 2024 Mustang GT to the track to see what it would run. This car does have the manual transmission so we knew it was not going to be as easy as our past vehicles, like our 2018 Mustang GT Project Goldmember, which went mid 8s. Jared was a little uneasy about his stick-shift abilities so we invited longtime racer & friend Evan Smith out to do some piloting.
Throughout our day of testing we changed up tire pressure, launch RPMs and more to see what kind of times we could get the car to run. We're happy with what we accomplished and we know there is a TON more potential as we further dial the car in. Stay tuned to our channels because there's more where this came from...

Tire size needs to be set correctly with the Tomahawk tuner. They probably forgot to do this when they swapped the rear wheels. This is why mph is down as well. Simple configuration error that can be easily fixed.

Interestingly, the trap speed is similar to a stock GT500 which has 150hp less and possibly more weight. Did you collect any datalogs from the runs to see if any protection was being applied vs the dyno?
@DWH300
@DWH300 7 ай бұрын
How did you get the GT500 has 150 less horsepower than the Whipple S650 GT.? Did you watch this video. The brake lights were coming on which may have slowed the pass. It's possible the Advance trac & traction control system wasn't completely turning off from possibly a switch issue. There's other possible reasons from low brake fluid to the tire sizes but it should be corrected. The GT500 also has an amazing rapid shifting 7 speed DCT and unlike the S650 is tuned to shift at it's 7300 redline. The S650 appears to have a soft tune from Ford for government Mpg and emissions requirements causing automatic cars to shift before it's 7500 redline When Motor Trend Tested the GT500. The quarter mile pass wasn't overly impressive. *Motor Trend* : The GT500 is faster than a Hellcat through the quarter mile too, covering 1,320 feet in 11.3 seconds at a blistering 131.6 mph. The highest trap speed we've measured from a Hellcat is in the Challenger Redeye, which hit 126.6 mph over 11.6 seconds. If you understand the principal of Test and Tune. For the first time on the track in a manual S650 Whipple GT running in 93 pump gas with Octane boost. Running 10s is a hell of a start for a new base 6 speed S650 Mustang GT.

Hey man, excellent day for the first time at the track. 10.6 @ 135 is fantastic. I have done road track racing throughout my racing career. Not too many drag strip passes. I noticed on four of the passes both you and Evan hit the brakes on the pass. I brake with my left foot; it took a ton of racing experience to get used to doing that. If you are concerned about hitting the rev limiter just for an instant release the pedal but stay in the gas & definitely don’t hit the brakes. You always have control over the car with the gas pedal verses the brakes on both cars and motorcycles. I raced Porsches and motorcycles competitively for years and steering and gas is where you want to be. Look forward to seeing how it goes with suspension enhancements. Your S650 looks great, sounds great and is very impressive!!!! Did you have any heat-soak issues? It certainly didn’t appear to have any. The Whipple Gen 5 & Gen 6 stay amazingly cool compared to other SCs. Steeda (Scott) just received a carbon fiber hood for their S650. I am eager to hear about the weight savings. Jared great video! Thanks for sharing Brother. A few more passes and it will be second nature for you and the 6-spd. Go Mustang King, become The Speed Racer!!!‼️👍👊💪😎🇺🇸

@@lopgan121I thought y'all were tapping the brakes also. Is the electronics braking the car at that point possibly also? Seems like it falls down on the shifts at the same time causing it to lose momentum then it picks back up. Looks especially noticeable in 1-2 shifts but others also slightly. Regardless of what it's without a doubt going to be even faster with more experience drag racing it and feeling it out.

Sure, the stick is slower then the 10spd. But for non competition daily driving id take the stick. Preferably the dark horse tremec. Another sad thing is Ford couldnt swap the tremec in the GT. They know the getreg trans isnt as good, thats why they put the tremec in the more expensive mustangs. And the GTs cost enough to get the tremec. Honestly the sales decline of the mustang is because of price in my opinion. They are WAY too expensive. Its hard/if not almost impossible to out launch a auto. Especially since most people cant afford to launch it like you dont need to pay for it if it breaks. But even with a tune my 10spd in my f150 is usually not in the gear i want for the duration i want. On/off throttle aggressive driving isnt anywhere near perfect. But its does launch real nice. Im already saving for the midnight racing trans. 10spds are a crap shoot. Some get 60k miles plus with a blower. Others blow up 40k to 70k stock power normal driving. I havent driven any expensive cars with DCTs, as im not rich/a journalist, or youtuber. nor have i read up on how long they last when driven aggressively. All i know is my in my used cars the autos always acted up and the stick cars were good to go. Even if tge syncros werent perfect.

@@nitodiaz8636 you are *cognitively bankrupt* if you think "platform needs to be sorted out" = issues with the Whipple. Gen 6 is the same Gen 5 technology, with different induction. The kit is self is as "VETTED" as the Gen 5 kits on GT's GT500's, F150's, GT350's. Do you see issues with those? No right? *It's an 800whp car manual transmission S650, stock IRS, stock suspension, experienced driver, yet not experienced with the car.* And there may be *tune* specific issues that did not show up on dyno rollers, but did show up in a track environment that needs to be addressed with additional revisions. Not knowing the full scope of "SORTING OUT A CAR" still needs to be done. Sounds like a non vetted situation to me. I purchased ESS KIT for my 20 gt, Lund tuned installed it all by my lonesome and guess what. ZERO issues from startup. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EITHER. That is a VETTED COMBO to me. First time out for a full weight *Stock* S650 Mustang GT with a factory Getrag shifter on 93 octane pump gas. Running in the mid 10s @ 130+ mph is faster than a stock GT500 or Hellcat. This isn't a race car. It's a daily driver. When a E85 tune becomes available later this year. This Mustang will run upper 9s. Looking at the Gen 4 Coyote redline of 7500+. The power band has obviously improved from the Gen 3. It possible the brake light was from the traction control not being shut off or a built in safety feature that felt the rear wheels breaking traction. It's not from the driver hitting the brakes. If it's TC or some type of safety nanny. It would slow the car slightly

@@DWH300cars definitely braking or plain out horrible shifting. I'd bet it's doing it electronically bc either traction control settings or something with ABS and it thinks one wheel is going faster than another and the electronics slows it for a sec, and causes it to fall on its face 1-2 shifts

Man, 800+ rwhp and can barely bust a 10.60-10.70 off. Imagine. Imagine your dyno queen mustang getting mopped by literally any coyote pushing like 10 psi. A bone stock gen 3 with an ESS kit on their biggest pulley would be about the same result and it will not make 800+ rwhp. Tells me all I needed to know, until it can be tuned, it’ll be a dud. Remember when y’all said “hur dur our s550 car went 10.30s so how will this go slower” yeah how does it go slower while making more power? Lmfao.

The point I was going to make is that you’re comparing auto times to a 6 speed, it’s why I don’t watch Alex’s videos anymore, he’s a tuner but he’s become a hypocrite, when he compared coyotes and LS engines he pointed out a lot of details and factors he’s not doing the same here he looks for the worst dyno result and says this is what they all make, but as a tuner he should know that results vary from one dyno to another

I've seen stock GT500 making 1/4 mile passes ranging from 11.2 to 10.8. The GT500 is a fantastic Mustang with a fast shifting DTC, but being the first time out for a manual Whipple S650 GT with no weight reduction. It's as fast or faster than a stock GT500s. The new Gen 4 Coyote has a lot more potential with better shocks and apparently a clutch adjustment to run in the low 10s and possibly the high 9s. With it's redline being over 7500 RPMs. This engine is at reline fast making it harder staying off the rev limiter in a manual car. Remember. This is a GT. Not a Dark Horse. It's time to admit the S650 is a bad ass Mustang. Just to mention. It's the first time out for this stock S650 GT Without a tune and only a bolt on Whipple that ran in the 10s at over 130 mph. It's faster than a GT500 and a Hellcat.

Got to learn how to launch a manual. Sounds like you're letting off the gas. Or you arent giving it enough gas off launch. To remedy that. Full send....blow the tires off and go down from there. Easiest way to find the sweet spot is from the top down.

In 2024 Stick shift is for a 20 year old on a Friday nights trying to empress girls on the side of the road but for anyone serious about the drag strip you only go auto … you can see a half second being lost every time you engage the clutch to shift gears lol u can see the rear end lift up loosing power and times every gear shift …. Ive owned many mustangs in my time my favorite was an 87 notch 5.0 bored out with a few bolt ons but it was crap at Englishtown because it was stick and the rear end was so light you would just spin for blocks lol so I am a true mustang guy but I hate manual’s even though the cool thing on social media is to say men drive manuals lol yeah if you want to be slower then the car next to you … luckily my left leg decided to not work after a motorcycle wreck and really fell in love with automatic’s because I was forced into it but then realized how much faster they are on track and drag strip
