Whipple Supercharged Camaro SS | RPM S7 E27

On Today's Episode of the RPM Web Series, we dyno tune a 2017 Camaro SS with headers, full exhaust and a 2.9L Whipple supercharger on it. We also finish up another heads cam C6 Z06 and a GTO comes into the shop for headers & a clutch.

I wish I could take apart my Camaro SS motor and actually do this and get it to run. The satisfaction is probably the best feeling knowing you did it yourself and it actually works. I will learn one day but I’m not just going to take my new Camaro SS engine apart. I really respect ✊ you guys 👍🏻💥🚀

Big D I don’t work for RPM, but I do similar work these guys do. And they do it right that’s for sure. It can very rewarding, saves you money on labor ect.... Especially building “race cars” every day. But it does get repetitive at times. It’s fun with a good crew always joking around. But still, it gets almost boring. Just like any other job. Pays the bills

Two different axle diameters are to cancel out wheel hop. Chevy did a similar thing in the C6 ZR1.

I was born and raised in Va.Beach, VA and I don't miss the inspection sticker malarkey however I can thank the inspection sticker for my surgical skills with a razor blade!! Those stickers were like wet single ply toilet paper...I was so ninja with it I used 1 sticker on 3 separate vehicles!! I call it Ninja and you call it broke loser

If you have a high reading for hydro carbons... couldn't you just lean out the tune for when they do the test than switch back after passing. Correct me if I'm wrong but hydro carbons are just unburnt fuel?....

Just because 96+ is a plug in check does not mean that if you get the check engine light turned off that it will pass. I was told a story by the safety/emissions regional supervisor for the Lancaster Pa area. A customer brought a car to the shop with illegal mods in the engine bay but no check engine light. The car was plugged in, and some of the vehicle info needed to be updated. The tech had to look under the hood to get the info. If I remember correctly the car had some headers that deleted the cats. The tech reported it to PennDot because under normal circumstances he would not have popped the hood and the car would have passed. PennDot told the shop to fail the car.

Yes that genius didn’t drive the car long enough after the tune to complete the drive cycle monitors and gave the guy a reason to go looking. The regional supervisor is gonna quote the rule book. When you go see the guy getting paid minimum wage to plug in a scanner he doesn’t give a shit as long as there’s no mil light and all the monitors are complete you pass.

@@jkfonyi No it was not that the monitors were not reset. It was something with the registration information. Some info that is only under the hood, and that is when the tech noticed the illegal mods.

Well that is the most sophisticated obd2 reader I’ve seen. I work at a dealership and it takes our specialized computer and all we can check is if the ecu has been unlocked when we need to verify it hasn’t been modified for warranty purpose. We can only tell the info for our manufacture. Even a 6000 dollar snap on obd2 system doesn’t give us that info. So long story short don’t move to Pennsylvania where this guy is.

@@jkfonyi When someone gets their car inspected for the first time, you have to enter in the registration info, GVW, etc. I have had to do it several times, and I was a PA safety and emissions inspector for only two years.

No shit. Old and tired. Rear main, tailshaft, pinion? The front end is probably trashed too. Inners/outers, balljoints/control arms, possibly rack, struts, sway bar links and bushings front and back. Axle seals are probably leaking too. Money pit.

You guys should really think about publicly discussing on video how you circumvent emissions controls on vehicles that you know will be driven on public streets. Regardless of which state inspection you get around, it's still a violation of federal law to tamper with an emissions device, and the EPA is cracking down (SCT/Bullydog). I don't doubt the speed shops are next....

I actually think that was a good idea on the drainage for washing cars definitely gets cold as a mofo there. I live in the Tampa Bay area we basically don't even have a winner here maybe a few days of cold weather but it's hot as hell in the summer. Drives me mental that the freaking stock axle splines don't go all the way in on the hub but DSS axles fill the hub with no issues. Like legit GM purposely made axles for these cars to fail.

I liked the channel but sadly I'm getting bored of it because it's either a Corvette or Camaro with the same exact parts everytime it just seems like I'm watching the same video over and over again. It just needs some change sometime. I know you guys are Chevy guys but damn. Throw some of those engine's and parts in something they wasn't meant to be in.
