Ms Lori I just had to tell you this I made your Potato Soup for Supper Tonight. My 5 yr old granddaughter was here and she had never had it before. She tasted it and you would have thought I had given her the world. She said that's the best Potato soup I ever had. Thank you so much for making that soup for me. Lol I didn't make it for her. She told me she never had it before and she didn't think she would like it! But I got many hugs and thank yous for making her Potato Soup. So I am sending you Hugs and a Great big Thank you from one Grandma to another. Love you!

My mom used to make this. The chicken would be falling-off-the-bone tender. And that gravy! She just called it chicken dinner. I don't think any of us knew it actually had a name, but it was definitely a family favorite. I haven't made this in years. I can't think why, except that I always overeat when I have. So good. I do a similar recipe with sour cream, cream of chicken soup & seasonings like yours & season, flour & brown all chicken parts & pour my gravy over my chicken & spoon it over rice after it's done. I try yours next weekend. I'm 68 now & my Mom started teaching me how to cook when I was 5 & my family comes from Kansas & Mississippi, so like you I have 65 yrs of cooking under my belt lol. Again thank you for sharing your recipe.

Looks delicious! The canned greens reminded me of the how my East Texas relatives up in the country used to eat them. I remember the glass ketchup bottle they filled with tiny red round peppers they grew and then they’d fill it with vinegar...it was their home grown hot sauce...very good on cooked greens. When the liquid level would go down in the bottle they’d just add more vinegar. An infusion!

I knew never knew what smothered chicken was. Come to find out I've eaten it all my life. This is what grandma always made for Sunday dinner but she'd make it and put the chicken in her big roaster and dump the gravy on top of it and let it cook on low in the oven while we were at church so it was ready to come out when we got home. The way she stretched out the meal was lots of biscuits on the side and potatoes too and you could have gravy on your biscuits and your taters good good memory
@shelwhitley10113 жыл бұрын
Diana, I'm a firm believer that anything left cooking while you're at church has been double-blessed as good eatin'! I've done the same thing with smothered fried cubed steak and it melts in your mouth! Seriously, when we Southern Cooks put something that's already delicious on to cook low and slow, it's got to be "larrupin'!" 😊😉 (I don't know if I spelled it right, but I just love to hear Mrs Lori and Mr Brown say that!)
