My cousin showed me this video around 2007 right before letting me try his new Dervish. Practicing my balance on the carpet wasn't so bad... but I remember the moment that board was outside, one step was enough to launch me backwards laughing on the ground with a bleeding ankle. It was awesome. Eventually I saved enough for a Vanguard myself and would spend weeks awkwardly trying to learn how to even ride on this beautiful beast. That board has crossed continents, survived being run over, became completely soaked in a storm making it "sqweak", and left me with countless marks throughout my body from all the small rocks the wheels accidentally got stuck under. Among so many other adventures all Thanks to Adam² and the cheesy Longboarding Trick Tip videos you two would post on this website. I even still have my original Monster shirt (I think his name was Frank) that came with a free Loaded/Orangatang Sticker and DVD. It's hard to believe that so much time has gone by since then and that it also took me this long to leave a comment on the video that introduced me to this magical hobby. So as I stare at my Vanguard waiting to be riden once again... I just wanted to say Thank You Adam Colton and Adam Stokowski for leaving such a positive impact on so many fans such as myself. I know you had a gnarly accident awhile ago and hope the years have been kind to you ever since. It's nice to see that you're still posting videos at least.

I heard a song on another video tonight that reminded me of this song and found my way back here. What a wonderful time in my life it was when I first saw this, ran out bought a Dervish and felt like I was unlocking some sort of magic on it every day. That's what youth is all about. Thank you Adam.

What a monumental video that changed my life forever. Now about 8 years later I reminisce while watching, of all the good times and new friends I made and how drastic my life has changed since. Now almost 30, overweight, married with a child. I really wish I still had my Dancer, wow what a board that was. I always will have the first gen gopro footage that I can look back on, maybe when the baby gets bigger we can enjoy this together. Thanks Adams!

@ozzieruss01 Yeah, regular skateboards suck, but the use of different woods in the construction of the deck makes a big difference. Ive turned all my old snapped tailed skateboards into cruiser shortboards though, its great. No worries man, let me know if theres anything else you need to know, glad you find my advice helpful.

@ozzieruss01 Definitely paris trucks, they come with better 90a stock bushings as well. But if you decide to get randals, go with the 42 degree baseplate and replace the stock 2.5 inch kingpin with a 2.75 inch one so it can take better bushings like venoms (most online stores should offer a kingpin replacement for a few extra bucks so dont worry) Or theres always the option of prandals - paris 180 mm hangar with a randal baseplate, if you can find somewhere to buy the parts seperately.

@ozzieruss01 No worries man. Theres no telling how long a board will last really, it all depends on the quality of the deck and how well you treat it, and as long as you dont have too many curb smashing accidents or let your board get run over by a car, it should last a fairly long time. Avoid too much water getting on your board and keep it dry. When youre not using it, store it at a good temperature as too much boiling heat or freezing cold could warp the deck through time.
@Sam_ware14 жыл бұрын
@ozzieruss01 Btw, I've had my dervish for half a year and its good. Its got a few scratches, but you cant prevent them when you ride so dont worry if you get them. Ive had to change the loaded griptape already, id recommend doing that shortly after you get the board. I bought a pair of bombsquad noseguards too, to protect the boards nose and tail, they work well but are a bit expensive. (in my last reply i put warp through time - warp just means it could damage it over time, not time travel :P)

@ozzieruss01 If you find a crack, make sure you know whats causing it so you can prevent it getting any bigger. I check my board regularly for cracks, just to be sure. Luckily ive never had one, but if you get one some strong wood glue should help fill it in. As for wheels, ive been riding a set of inheats for a few months and they still ride fine. I slide my wheels sometimes, but if you were sliding a lot itd be a good idea to replace your wheels often so they dont get coned and all roll funny.

the durians should be just fine i learned on durians 83a and they worked perfectly so im sure youre fine. but i wouldnt go with the 4pres just because the lip on them is not rounded so you would have to break it in first which could make it harder to learn on.

im alrightt. i have a couple tricks up my sleeve haha this bored is awesome. i can take it pretty fast too,, like ive gone close to 40 on it with my trucks loose (randalls). it is nice to have a bored like this so i dont have to push my heavy evo around. hell yes it was worth the money this has to be one of the most fun, if not the most fun board around! @MCBCCitizen I imagine they're pretty hard to slide. And extremely hard if you're gonna try to learn on. If you're just learning get some actual slide wheels. Abec 11 flashbacks, pink powerballs, metro motions, hesher snowballs, cult classics. Somethin like that.
