Hey Brian thanks for the great information. Man that coil was really dirty, I know mine gets filthy, I am sure I need to clean it more often than I do. Hope you have a great week 👍

Yeah Britt I should be cleaning mine more often as well. Now I know. It is easy enough to clean every time I replace the filter. Hope you have a great week as well!

Thanks for the tips Brian! Never thought to dump the ice when changing the filter! Good to know!

You bet! I figured if the wife did not like the taste of the water she is not liking the ice either.

I bet your refrigerator will not be running as much now that you have cleaned that coil . I had a friend that thought that his fridge was in need of replacement as it was running nonstop and was not very cold , I explained to him how to take the lower front cover off and check for lint and hair in front of the coil . His was completely clogged up as his dog liked to lay right in front of the cover , dog hair had been drawn into the coil and had severely restricted air flow . After cleaning his was back to working normal ! I like to use a brush attachment on the vac hose as the bristles will get into the coils and help to clean out the lint. Nice work Brian ! OH my mothers fridge was not cooling well at all , at first we thought it was a clogged coil but that was clean . What we discovered was when the door was closed the interior light was staying on and was heating up the inside . We simply took the bulb out and hers went back to working normal again . You never know what you might find , just a little tip in case yours ever has that happen .

Thank you Richard. I looked for the bristle attachment it is lost at the moment. But I figure I will clean the coil every time I change the filter now. So next time for sure. That is so crazy about your moms fridge! Great catch though.

Thanks very much. This was very interesting. However, our fridge doesn't have an ice maker and our ice cubes smell and taste terrible. Thanks.

I hate how much filters cost. I always use them longer too.

For sure! It is so crazy! We try to buy multiples to save.

the filter link for Amazon needs updating..... :)

Wow..we order ours from Amazon and they canceled the order due to length of time to get it. We're on a well so it can caution me all it wants lol. Technology sucks .... seems like a gimmick to me!

I am going to have my wife try just the tap water and see what she things of that. I really think the metal taste may come from the filter after its 6 month time span. I have the same though Sandy! So much money in filters there has to be something going on!
