Essential piece of kit for the quad builder! Gives you that piece of mind that things won't go POP when connect a lipo for the 1st time. All the best Whirly! 👍

When I connected 4s lipo, smoke stopper is triggering while its set to 1 amp threshold. 2 amp no problem its working. Do you think is it a problem ?
@WhirlyBloke3 жыл бұрын
Some drones will have a higher switch on surge current than others. You only need to worry if it trips on the 2A setting. As always, do a continuity check with a multimeter before you plug a battery in any time you're firing up the quad for the first time. If there's a short circuit, you need to fix it first.

ıt just cuts off when i give some power on the motors. my setup is 2207 supernova motors 65a esc and 6s lips. I select the three yellow led set for low sensitivity and high current and 2 amp mode. ıt works but when i put on the throttle it cuts off. why do you think it is happening
@WhirlyBloke2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching the review. It sounds like your setup is drawing more current than the ShortSaver’s 2-amp limit, causing it to cut off when you throttle up. The ViFly ShortSaver is designed to prevent overcurrent situations, so in cases where high-powered setups (like your 2207 motors and 65A ESC on a 6S LiPo) draw more than 2 amps, the device will cut the circuit as a protective measure. You might want to try increasing the ShortSaver’s sensitivity to a higher current mode if possible (like the 4A setting), as this can help it handle the load when throttling up without triggering a cutoff. However, keep in mind that the ShortSaver is primarily for testing low-current situations, so it might still cut out on larger setups. For extensive testing, consider using a power supply with current limits to further troubleshoot any issues safely.

Compared to IFlight smoke stopper? Are they performing the same? (asking because I can get IFlight smoke stopper for 3x cheaper)

I've never used the the iFlight smoke stopper. I've been using the ViFly one for a few years and it's been perfect.

we are using a 6s 22.2v lipo battery that has 32000 mAh. When plugging in the vifly v2, we at low sensitivty ( 3 blinks) and 2A. The device is shutting down at almost 40% power. This might be due to a false alarm. What are the possible solutions.
@WhirlyBloke Жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks for sharing your experience. It's unfortunate to hear that you're encountering issues with the device shutting down at nearly 40% power. Based on your description, it's possible that you're experiencing a false alarm triggering the shutdown. Here are a few possible solutions you can try: Check the battery voltage: Make sure the battery voltage is within a safe range and not dropping significantly under load. A low voltage can trigger a false alarm. If the battery is nearing its low voltage cutoff, it's advisable to replace or recharge it. Verify the device settings: Double-check the sensitivity setting on the ViFly ShortSaver. If it's set too low, it might be more prone to false alarms. Try adjusting the sensitivity to a slightly higher level to see if it resolves the issue. Inspect the wiring and connections: Ensure that all the connections between the battery, the ViFly ShortSaver, and the rest of the system are secure and properly soldered. Loose connections or damaged wires can lead to voltage drops and false alarms. Contact the manufacturer: If the problem persists despite trying the above steps, it would be advisable to reach out to the manufacturer's customer support. They should have a better understanding of their product and can provide specific guidance or even a replacement if necessary. Remember, safety is of utmost importance when dealing with high-powered devices and LiPo batteries. Always exercise caution and follow the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the safe operation of your equipment. Good luck with resolving the issue.

That button is a great upgrade! Question: My V1 ALWAYS indicates an over current - any idea why? Maybe you could make a video about what exactly an over current is and how to avoid/fix it? Besides that my quads seem to fly just fine and my circuitry does not fry.
@WhirlyBloke4 жыл бұрын
Some flight controllers and electronics just have a larger surge current on start up. Either set the ShortSaver to it's 2A mode or make the trip time longer for that quad.

@@WhirlyBloke Thank you sir - I will definitely try that, and I will let you know if it works!

@@WhirlyBloke Well Sir Whirly, since I'm using the original version of this smoke stopper, I tried bridging first the "S" solder pads on the back, and then I unbridged the "S" pads and bridged the "N" pads, and low and behold, the red light pops on and none of my four quads start up. I'm going to order this new V2 and see what happens - maybe the V1 that I have is just defective. Thanks for the suggestion, I will follow up when I get the V2!

Why am i going to need to change the trip time?! The shortest the better will be.. so how can that be a feature? Why am i going to slow the response time?
