My friend just sent me a screenshot of this product. SpeedyBee products are awesome. The engineers surely have their gray matter in mass abundance, Love Speedy Bees mind set. Even the FC has LED'S on the edge to check Lipo energy level on your quad. Thanj you for your great reviews. You are a good teacher.

Thank you so much! I've had my mavic Air 2 for a couple years but have just recently been really getting into flying. I bought the DJI fpv combo (drone, rc, goggles v2) on sale as an impulse and I'm so glad I did. I haven't actually flown it yet other than just testing it. I have already rooted the goggles and put FPV WTFOS on them for more OSD stuff and plan to use them with analog DIY builds that I am looking forward to making. Going to go fly the fpv for the first time today. I'm super excited! This video probably saved me hundreds of dollars on having to buy those stupid batteries. Thank you so much!

Flashing. How are you going to see that when you have the goggles on? I thought by alarm you meant an audible one not a blinking light
@WhirlyBloke
@WhirlyBloke Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. By the time the LiPo is below the cut off/low warning, the output voltage to the goggles will start to droop and you'll get the same messages in the goggles display as you'd get when the OEM battery is getting low. It's then time to land, and change the battery.

@@WhirlyBloke Thank you for the review. I just ordered one. So I guess the battery percentage display on the goggle will stay at 100% and then suddenly it'll start dropping when the lipo battery hits 3.65V or so. Do you know how much time it'll give you before the goggles shut down? I'm asking this question because you might not be able to land immediately if your quad is quite far away. I did a quick calculation assuming a 3S 2200mAh and I guess it'll give me about 5 minutes or so until the voltage reaches 3.6V from 3.65V. Please share your experience if you can. Thanks!

@WhirlyBloke
@WhirlyBloke 7 күн бұрын
Try using the original charger and a different USB-C cable or power outlet to rule out power issues. Check if the LED lights show charging, and ensure the port is clean. If nothing works, connect the goggles to DJI Assistant 2 on your PC to check firmware. Still no luck? It could be a hardware issue-contact DJI Support for assistance or a warranty replacement!

hi i am confused . what if i plug in directly with a lipo battery ? why do i need a bec to lower down the voltage if the goggle input voltage can accept up to 11.1v?
@WhirlyBloke
@WhirlyBloke Ай бұрын
It's a voltage regulator. So the output voltage remains constant regardless of the voltage state of your LiPo. Obviously there's a lower limit, but if you just plug in a LiPo it could quickly drop below the operating voltage of the goggles and they'd just turn off. Also the Googles 2 particularly have a very small operating voltage range - probably intentional by DJI so you buy their batteries. Standard electronics theory really.

Is there a low voltage cutoff to keep from overdischarging your lipos? How do you know when the lipos is dead?

Just out of curiosity why don’t you run standard 2s lipo’s like the fat shark used to use? I have 2 3000mah lipos, they power the goggles until they read sbout 20% on the led indicators. I get about 2 hours per pack but they are only $18 a pack.
@WhirlyBloke
@WhirlyBloke Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your great comment and sharing your experience. Using 2s lipos like the ones you mentioned can be a cost-effective option, but there are a few reasons why the SpeedyBee Goggles BEC is a better solution. Firstly, the DJI Goggles 2 requires a specific voltage range (7-9V) to operate optimally. The SpeedyBee Goggles BEC voltage output precisely matches the requirements of the goggles, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply. Secondly, using an external LiPo with a voltage regulator provides a higher capacity and longer runtime compared to a standard 2s lipo. This is particularly useful during extended flying sessions as it allows for longer uninterrupted use for a longer duration. Lastly, the SpeedyBee Goggles BEC offers additional features such as voltage monitoring and protection, which can help prevent over-discharging of the LiPo battery. This helps to prolong the lifespan of the battery and ensure safer operation. However, I appreciate your suggestion and your cost-effective solution with the 2s lipos. It's great that you're able to achieve a good runtime with those batteries. Different setups work well for different people, and it's always interesting to hear about alternative options. Thanks again for your input, and happy flying.

I was out of the field ready to fly and discovered that (again) I'd forgotten to turn off my Goggles 2 and the battery was dead. I then eyed the XT60 to Barrel Jack that I use with my analog goggles and thought "hey that should work" and then (luckily) wondered "Hmm, what's the voltage range of the Goggles 2?" I'm so glad I Googled that before plugging them into my goggles. Correction: the Barrel Jack wouldn't have fit. So glad to see that!!

It's always better to ask and no be confused 😀You can use any input voltage between 3S and 6S (12.6V - 25.2V) and the adaptor BEC maintains the steady 9.2V required by the Googles 2. This will also work with the Googles V2.

Hmm.. This product needs to be used with a lipo battery alarm. The output voltage of the BEC is constant at 9.2V and it doesn't go down even if the lipo voltage goes lower than 3.5V per cell. On Goggles 2, 8.7V is displayed and there's no change because the input voltage is constant. Yes, the BEC screen flashes but there's no way that you can notice the voltage drop of the lipo when you're looking at the goggle screen. I tested varying input voltages from my lipo charger. The situation could be worse if you use a 3S lipo because the BEC will shut down when the lipo voltage is lower than 10.5V. The error notification is displayed a few seconds and that's it; your goggles go blank. With a 4S or 6S, at least the BEC doesn't shut down even if the battery is ruined. SpeedyBee should have included an audible battery alarm to this product. It's such a nuisance to attach a separate battery alarm to the lipo when you want to put it into your pants pocket. Or, you'll have to remember to check the BEC screen from time to time.
@WhirlyBloke
@WhirlyBloke Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Your experience with varying input voltages is valuable information for potential users. Hopefully, SpeedyBee takes note of these concerns and considers implementing improvements in future iterations. It's understandable that having to attach a separate battery alarm or regularly checking the BEC screen can be inconvenient. Your input will certainly help others make informed decisions about their gear. However, I've been using this solidly for the last month without any issues, but I am using a 4900mAh 3S LiPo that only needs charging every few weeks. The issue really, is the Googles 2 has such a narrower input voltage range unlike the V1 and V2 googles.

@@WhirlyBloke Thank you for your comment. I only received this product today so I haven't really used it. It might be okay in real cases, I guess. I am overly concerned because I crashed a quad once because I didn't check the voltage of an analog goggles; I didn't let it displayed on screen preferring a less crowded screen and I never fully spent a 3S 2200mAh pack before. After that accident, I have the goggles voltage displayed on screen and check it often. With this BEC, I'll be checking the BEC screen each time before the flight so it might be okay without a battery alarm; I'll have to use it for some time to be sure.
