I was just rewatching a few whiskey vault episodes and came across your science of smell rants. How when your right brain has an association that your left brain can't figure out there can be an uncomfortable pawing for words and categories but that this activity is essential if you're going to let your right brain do its thing. There is a term coined by Keats that I think is applicable here and that I am reminded of when I drink whiskey: Negative capability. "...that is, when a man is capable of being in uncertainties, mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact and reason..." "...the capacity of the greatest writers (particularly Shakespeare) to pursue a vision of artistic beauty even when it leads them into intellectual confusion and uncertainty..." At Christmas I had some friends over to drink whisky and one of them brought an independent bottle of Longmorn. Distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2014 at 18 years old. Cask Strength 58.8%, and a single cask. Damned if that wasn't one of the most amazing Scotches I've ever had! The nose was interesting, but the palate just went bonkers. The most striking element was the barnyard, hayloft flavours that took it from being just another tasty sherried whisky and elevated it to a complex behemoth. At the end of the night, my buddy left me the heel. It's my birthday today...I may need to day drink this one with brunch.

I tried finding some suggestions on meaty whiskeys - there's not much info out there, I only found one Reddit thread, but even there the suggestions were underwhelming. Can I mooch an episode on whiskeys with the meat note? I think, it could also be interesting as a series where each episode would be about 5 top whiskeys with that specific note.

I would like to propose an Un-rare Whiskey Wednesday to complement Rare Whiskey Friday. On this day the review would be of a very common mass market whiskey even if it has already been reviewed 3 years ago. Every week might be too much, but every other week, fortnightly if you will, might be the right amount. These are likely the whiskeys that most of us are drinking most of the time and we would be thankful for the review.

I read somewhere that it's best for the liver to not drink 2 or 3 days of the week. So I've been just doing every other day or so instead of taking a week off in a 4 to 6 month period.
