Update on the Washington peat situation with Westland: went to the distillery a few weeks ago and they said they were able to find a private land owner with a peat bog on his land (who happened to also be a major whiskey fan), and were able to work out a deal to harvest said peat. They're about two years away from releasing the whiskey made from that.

I've been binge watching both channels for a month or so now and have learned a tremendous amount! My whiskey stash has grown a lot since then and my knowledge of each whiskey. You all are funny as hell and very knowledgeable! I recently found out I'm a big fan of Ardbeg, Laphroaig and lagavulin because of this channel. The Laphroaig Lore is AMAZING!! Cheers!! 🍻

I love the reverie! They only sell it at the distillery :-( and I just moved to TN. Thankfully I loaded up before I left WA and I still have five different Westland Whiskies on the shelf. Westland is my favorite distillery period!

I wish i could find some of these around me. My job requires traveling so having them delivered requires ID verification and a signature to the best of my knowledge, not really feasible for me. On the other hand since subscribing to this channel i have 17 bottles of various whiskeys & drink myself stupid most weekends, barely put a dent in them. Most definitely dont need anymore yet. Love the channel guys! your a wealth of knowledge, I've definitely stepped up my apprecication & knowledge of whiskey because of yall.

I don't know about sprits, but I in WA you can have wine shipped to a UPS or Fedex store and pick it up from there with your ID.

Tried the Reverie during a tour of the distillery. The guide gave the note of "grilled fruit" where you get the smokiness/ashy-ness of the peat with all of those great fruit notes from the different wine casks. Honestly the greatest tasting note I've ever gotten.

I'm a big fan of Westland; it's an obligatory stop whenever I'm in Seattle. My current library: Garryana 2019, Reverie Fig. 1, Cask 1318, and Cask 2560 (Maris Otter). I'll be back in Seattle next week, just in time for the 6th Annual Peat Week release.

Whoa. Went to the Westland site to look up Reverie, and they have this amazing graphic showing the sources and barrels that went into it. Too bad I can't get it out here (though only 900 bottles, so unlikely no matter where you live). Also, did Rex just use the phrase "tabula rasa" conversationally?

I picked up one of the last 5 bottles on the shelf when I bought this bottle, and a couple weeks later when I went back to pick up a bottle for myself they said they had just sold the last one the day before. So unfortunately, they are officially out. Seriously unfortunately, cause this really is a magnificent whiskey. But they said they are currently crafting the 2nd edition of this series and that it should be out in 2020, 2021 at the latest if other projects get in the way

From what I found out with a bit of googling it said that the batch 01 of son of a peat was created by one of the flaviar founders Grisa Soba so I presume that he created the batch 02 too and assuming that creating = blending there might be the answer. Been waiting for this review, got a bottle of batch 02 too and it is amazing!

Westland was founded in 2010 by Matt Hofmann and Emerson Lamb. Lamb left the company about 2015, but Hofmann remains as master distiller. The brand's rise has been swift, with its first release debuting in September 2013
