I was on a Human Rights Committee for a very large city, at one point, and not dealing with my issues/alcoholism made it difficult to always be "present". Taylor is 100% right about luck. There are tons of comics out there with the dedication and ability to make it just as much as her, but they just haven't gotten "lucky" to do a really good set with an important producer in the room one night. To use Santino's gambling metaphor. Making it as a comic is a hell of a lot more like poker or blackjack than it is roulette. And Taylor wasn't saying it was roulette.

Yeah, luck always plays a part. No matter how good you are, if someone gets hired before you audition, or there are no spots left, it doesn't matter anymore how hard you work. The randomness of being in the right place at the right time is always a main factor
