Ralfy can you do a peated category and a none peated category because there are a lot of whisky drinkers that don’t like peat smoke in their whisky. This has peat smoke in it so it’s a no go for many of us. A blended whisky is no problem but the peat….big problem. Cheers.

People seem to forget.. unless you are buying a single cask bottling... all the Single Malts... are technically blends... just blends of different casks at different ages. Why do people blindly trust single malt blends...? Then ... turn their nose up at blends?

Half true. Blended malt from the same distillery is still considered single malt. Blended malt are from two (or more) different distilleries. Blended scotch, like this one, is blend from different grains, not just malt

@@greatestytcommentator agree that ppl turn their nose up at blends for no good reason, although in fairness - the vast majority of blends are what you find in the supermarkets. Good quality blends are not that common, at least where I am. Hope that changes

@kennit73 You'd be surprised.. You've got to be in it to win it.. Supermarket blends change frequently.. Sainsburys had one of the nicest scotches of all time... masquerading as a super budget blend for about 14 months.. it was the one that is now known as Crag n Glen... about 2 years before the change... it was pretty much all from a rather well respected distillery with a dash of grain... god knows why.. I did all the research at the time and many many whisky tasters confirmed and added information.. I can't remember the name right now... (i suck at remembering things..including remembering to write things down) I wish I'd bought many bottles.... well... to be fair i did.. but i drank them

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't mean completely quitting alcohol. To me it means just removing quantity and focusing on quality. Quitting completely would be mentally unhealthy for me because i do enjoy it. It's one of the little things that can make life very enjoyable. I quit smoking cigarettes years ago, but now i do enjoy cigars and they're not nearly as addicting and unhealthy as those nasty little things. Although very expensive, i think they're worth the money. A large case will last you a long long time. I also found that they are a PERFECT match for either scotch or bourbon.The two complement eachother's taste. Smoking a cigar can bring up flavors that you never even knew that existed in a bottle. It's an experience i recommend, even to fitness buffs. Merry Christmas!

This Xmas I’ve been pouring and sharing PC10 (your nomination last year!) and Ardnamurchan Sherry cask. They were both eye-openers for relatives with no great depth of whisky knowledge, but they felt both drinks were unique and a huge improvement on your Livets and Morangies.

Thanks for putting this on our radar Ralfy. I've been saying for years there is a large gap for high quality blends, as by rights there is no reason that blends cannot be fantastic, it really allows the blender behind the scenes to craft what they like with no limitations. Unfortunately the world of blends has become bloated with pish, as it has been viewed by some manufacturers as a way of watering down your shite spirit you wouldn't put into an age statement malt with a castrated neutral grain spirit and coast on the brand. It has definitely damaged the reputation of blended whisky, which is a shame because lets be honest, the vast majority of us malt heads first got introduced to whisky after trying a decent blend that piqued our interest.

Merry Christmas Ralfy. Yet again really enjoyable and informative content. Over the past few years I have both reduced what I am buying ( for what you have explained in this vlog) and reduced my consumption. Reducing my consumption has improved my enjoyment and I've found little nuances in what I've had. I've also got bottles that have been open 10 years plus and been surprised on the difference of experience from them as time has gone on. Some for the better some not. I would never want a business to be damaged as behind the scenes there is always the human element of people's livelihoods but in saying that the ones that have over profiteered from this will only have themselves to blame. I am very selective in what I buy now as I believe in quality v price v enjoyment. I look forward to another year of great content. All the best to you and lang may yer lum reek

I was looking through the whisky for sale in a shop I get free delivery from and this whisky you had as the whisky of the year for 2024 popped up a few days ago so I added a bottle to my order., @it won't get delivered until at least the 29th as I ordered it on Xmas day. To say it's 46% is incredible considering most blended whisky's are 40%. It's not going to be drunk I will be adding t to my collection which now consists of 28 bottles before I purchased this and a bottle of Nikka coffey grain. I sometimes look on Amazon for the price and normally it's only a couple of pounds difference so I get next day delivery for free whereas if it's not from Amazon but a third party they can add £5 for delivery.

The smaller bottlings are restricted by the cost of shipping.. I'm loathe to say it but Amazon now has great retailers that ship for free through the system.... hopefully the smaller distilleries and bottlers get onto the growing list.

I can easily not drink whisky for weeks. Sometimes it doesn't even cross my mind for over a week. But when I do want it, I treat it as the special moment it is. I drink something special, for my budget, something that's genuinely good quality and a lovely experience. We all know alcohol isn't good for you. But in moderation, especially if it makes you happy for a little bit there's nothing wrong with drinking. Sometimes we need to slow down, sometimes people shouldn't judge...

Ralphy, all product sales here in the states are way down, compared to 3 years ago. It is a struggle, or rather the funds go to where it counts. While beer is taking the biggest hit here in Colorado. The shelves are loaded with old products. Saturated. The best selling beer here is Modelo, i've checked lots and it's always the youngest one amongst the case format. I would buy sam adams often but it's not fresh anymore. I love local and go direct to the source in my town. There are 5 brewery's within walking distance. Shoutout verboden. In the land of spirits, 101 is my go to, with that said, lots of local good producers are sold out. Flat out, gone and probably sent the the states that have higher sales of spirits. Or where consumers value that out of state goodness and can still pay the premium. One to try is vapor spirits. Great single malt. You are my go too for all things whiskey. For bourbon i love bourbonjunkies, they are on point. Cheers

I just bought a 20 year old ledaig 58.2% on the master of malt label for £96 there was an end of year 20% off sale on. It’s first fill olorosso sherry cask. Seems great value.

Have you tried the aerstone 10 sea cask, just over 20 on offer. If they do a craft presentation, take out the paint, filtration, improved the quality of cask and gave it another couple of years… it would be very good
