I am 58 years old and bought my first bottle of Dewars 12 after watching this particular video. It's a good tasting scotch. Not bad, but not grand either. It's right down the middle where you can't go wrong. It's very consistent.

I'm not a big fan of putting Scotch on ice, but put a big ice sphere in this one and it opens up into raisins, brown bread, and a little bit of cranberries. It's quite delicious.

I find I prefer blended malts over Highland single malts. I've tasted a few Highland malts, and have yet to find one I really like.

Considering the price range, Dewars is better than Chivas 12 in every aspect. One of the best blends up to 30e you can buy.

The smell was quite light, but taste was very smooth and velvety, I was able to pick up a small bit of the Aberfeldy taste, but not too much (I dont like Aberfeldy 12yr single malt). Got a bit of butterscotch(?) taste on a few sips. Currently priced at $26- I think it cant be beat for the price. I always liked the White Label and this is just a few dollars more and quite a bit better in my opinion.

Advice needed please (open to all): I'd like to buy a Dewar's for my dad as a gift because brand is special to us. Unfortunately, you can no longer get the normal White Label in my country, so I want to buy either the 12 or 15 year old. My dad's favourite whisky is the standard Glenmorangie 10, and sometimes the Macallan 12. Would you recommend the Dewar's 12 or 15 for him? I know this is a blend, but like I said, Dewars has a funny sentimental value to us. Thanks in advance (regards from South Africa).

Try Highland Park 12 different altogether, but if you haven't tried it... it is one of the best value single malts.

The 12 is a very rich whisky but the 15 is much smoother and tastes 90% similar to the glenfiddich 12. So I would buy the 15 but it's purely up to you.

The Dewar's 12 is about the same price as Aberfeldy 12, so I don't see a point in buying a blend VS a single malt.

Agreed. But then again, Dewar's 12's main malt component is Aberfeldy (12 I believe) laced with what I assume to be corn whiskies.

+Francis Ducharme ..mm, I've only had a bottle of Aberfeldy 12 and not a sip of Dewar's 12, so I'm not in the best position to judge... But... I didn't think Aberfeldy 12 was that memorable. Perfectly pleasant and enjoyable, but also quickly forgotten. Frankly, it was a single malt that I thought could benefit from having some rougher character blended into it, perhaps in the shape of grain whisky...

Not sure if I had a bad bottle but it was the worst whisky I’ve had. I brought the bottle back after half a glass. It tasted “off” and made me feel ill after just a few sips.
