Love the gold - it's my go-to bottle at the moment. However, I tried it straight after the old 12 sherry last night and I thought it was a bit rough. It's nice enough on it's own, I will continue to search out bottles and buy them, but I wish I discovered whisky 10 years ago when the old 12 was on the shelves everywhere!

In my opinion this is a fantastic all year around summer winter Scotch with great Aromas of orange and pear very smooth nothing spicy just a well-balanced overall all year scotch

I found this review very helpful, especially when comparing it to the 12 Y.O. My conclusion was if one wants more intensity and complexity and more oaky-spiciness, then go for the 12 Y.O if one wants it on the relaxed lexx intense side, then go for Gold. I think the gold would be a good starting point for people who are just trying Scotch. (compared to Peated (& medicinal scents) drams from Islay).
