Two winners I sure would love to have...Both from distilleries I do not know.. John's channel is a great whisky channel...such a nice man. I think the prices are fair. They both fit into one of my 2022 whisky goals.. Cask strength or 18+..for new purchases.. Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestion. I had both the 5 and 6 in my cart, but had to make a budget decision. The 5 was the one reviewed by The Whisky Neighbour and I wanted to directly compare my review. I may end up with the 6 if I free up some space in my whisky cabinet. ;)

Thank You for this review. It reaffirms what I've seen in terms of sales. In my area these Glen Moray 18 years are FLYING off of the shelves. People are thirsty for 18 year old Scotch that won't break the bank. This Glen Moray fit the bill. If you can find the Glen Moray 10 year Chardonnay Cask I think you would find that one really interesting.
@stevef66552 жыл бұрын
I second that. I like Glen Moray a lot, a very underrated whisky in my opinion. The chardonnay expression certainly made a lasting impression on me.

Good vid! I just picked up that Glen Moray 18 for $90. Haven't tried it yet, but I have high hopes; I've like all of the NAS Classic Glen Morays I've tried, although the Heritage 12 was a bit forgettable @40%. I don't see much Tamdhu, and I haven't seen that Batch Strength in a long time, but it was great if I recall correctly.

Thanks, Christopher. I was surprised to find Tamdhu Batch 005 so quickly, but I really have a great local shop here in SF (www.whiskyshopusa.com). I'd have been disappointed with a Glen Moray at 80 proof, so I'll make sure to check that before I buy any other expressions. Cheers!

@@WhiskyRiffs So long as you don't set your expectations too high and don't overanalyze, those NAS Elgin Classic Glen Morays are all very enjoyable; the Port finished one is particularly good.

I can't argue with that final sentiment. I was watching the Balcones video before I finished this one as I have a 63.2% store pick Balcones single malt to be opened soon. The Texas single malt is good, but it's not scotch..... I made a mistake last week in the scotch I did buy. I picked up the $180 Glen Moray 21 year port finished. It may indeed be the least expensive 21 year old (above 43%) in the stores but I didn't realize the 18 was 47%. My problem is that I might have preferred the simple bourbon matured, less expensive bottle and then I could have gotten an independent bottle that they only had one of and now it's gone. Glen Moray is a decent malt and the 21 is really very nice, I can't even imagine how thin and expensive the older 25 yr expression at a lower ABV must have been. So the 21 is a very nice dram, I was looking for some off notes and they just don't happen. It's got some complexity and lots of sweet fruit notes but I don't think I'd buy it again. I usually like a more interesting. I enjoy my Batch 4 Tamdhu, even if the batch 6 is supposed to be better. Cask Strength bottles, especially NAS, are a weakness for me. This and the A'bunadh are in a sherry class to themselves. Port finished whisky at sub 50% ABV are easy sippers. The Glenallachie that's available in the US is very expensive for a 12 year old so I recommend the 10year rye. I am now going to have to seriously consider the GM 18, thanks

Thanks for all these notes and tips, Jack! I've been too busy recording and editing to shop, but I'm interested in variants of my recent reviews. Your comment on the Glen Moray 21 Port Finished is helpful as is your Genallachie. Cheers!

@@WhiskyRiffs I hear good things about GM single cask and Small batch cask strength releases. I'm hoping that if I ever see one it'll be reasonable priced. I'm pouring the GA rye finished. It's nicely complex and worth a try.

Hi Kevin @Whisky Riffs, you have a great channel and thank you for making your reviews! I hope I am not being rude, but in your top 5 Islay whiskies video and now in this one, I notice a spot on the left part of your lower lip. Due to its dark color, I just was concerned, and wondered if you have seen a dermatologist about it. Just hoping that spot is not a cancerous melanoma, so I apologize for being so nosy. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos & wishing you all the very best!!
