I found your conversation on gaze and the orgy scene really interesting. Although I will say that I don't think the intent to titillate is always a bad thing either. Totally agree with your example about Transformers, but I do think there are definitely times where eroticism and titillation do have their place. Art can convey the full range of human emotion, film strives to explore human experience, and sex absolutely has its place in that mix too.
@theshamelist2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Each intent has it’s place, and it’s important to make sure each one is represented. We had a whole segment where we talked about eroticism, the male vs female gaze, and how there’s nothing inherently wrong with any of them. Sadly we couldn’t include the whole conversation, but we appreciate you sharing! ❤️Jacqui

When Bug said; “I’d totally DO you” as a Trans person it was a bit discomforting, but then he said “not in a degrading way “ and I said; huh, He’s conscious so I guess he will do better. I can’t wait for next episodes, but I’m even more excited for reaction to season 2, when you get to fully know the characters it becomes more interesting.

there’s also the term “agnostic atheist” basically if you don’t believe in a god and would like to identify as such but are not completely closed off to the possibilities and are open to changing their mind. my sister has the same views as kala on religion. she’s religious, but she doesn’t let religion get in the way of logic and science or use religion to rationalize poor behavior and i LOVE the side characters in this show. the friends and family of our main 8 are (for the most part) so incredible. bug, amanita, jela, the old woman sun meets in prison, hernando, riley’s dad... we delve into the connection between the sensates a lot, but the connection with our homo sapiens is also extremely significant. beautiful relationships in this show. there’s so much genuine love

Bug is so great! I really enjoy how this episode talks about religion, its a more open dialogue it doesn't feel judgy or mocking, its two perspectives and there can be love and tolerance in between.

I found what you said about That scene really interesting, and I think you captured perfectly the reason why I, as an asexual person, didn’t feel as uncomfortable with that scene as I usually do in other shows and movies, usually when a scene like that happens I roll my eyes because great another pointless scene to show you the characters like each other without putting in any effort to actually create a connection between them, but Sense8’d scenes never feel like that, they feel like an expression of love almost, even when the characters aren’t even necessarily in love romantically. This show is in a lot of ways a celebration of the human experience so scenes like the one last episode are treated with just as much respect and emotion as every other moment on the show, because of that when I watch them I see the enjoyment of the characters not the ‘enjoyment’ that the viewed is usually supposed to have with these kind of scenes and that makes all the difference. Sorry for the long comment but I’ve never seen anyone explain so well why that scene comes across the way that it does so thanks

Oh, yes! Orphan Black is excellent! I love it. Oh yes, THAT scene. Yes it was uncomfortable, but especially seeing it again, it is also a piece of art. Bug! I love that character, too. Did meet the actor once, and he is a bit like that in real life. "Privileged. Not lucky" I said it before, this show is full of excellent quotes, Tis one shows Riley's quite aware of the difference. Sam: Actually, Vader is the Dutch word for father, but close enough (in Germn it would be Vater). The "very large ... trunk", that was priceless! That black-out was right on time, wasn't it? Just after the "You should NOT have come back". "One language makes sense - one doesn't" says Wolfgang. But which one is which ;) Whispers! What a "nick" name for creepy guy. Terrence Mann is a brilliant actor. Excellent reactions.

The only reason why Netflix have canceled the show was because of the enormous production costs of (quote Netflix in there official statement for canceling:) 11 MILLION US DOLLAR EACH EPISODE (Sense8 is still to this day 5 Years after the official cancellation with 108 Millionen US-Dollar per season the third expensive show Netflix ever have produced) and sadly not being able to gain enough audience for justifying these huge amount of budget Netflix decided to kill the show off directly only one day after the release of the second season finale which had ended with a enormous cliffhanger

First of all, great reaction and discussion as usual. You are both rapidly becoming my favourite reactors! Second, if you react to Orphan Black that would make me so, so happy! It would be such a great thing to replace Sense8 in the lineup, and no one has reacted to it that I've found, which I think is such a shame because it's such a good show and would be such an incredible thing for people to react to, it's got great twists and turns and characters. And I'd love to hear your take and the discussion it would bring up.

Everyone mentions how Darth Vader is a spoiler because Vader is the German word for father, but he's actually called that because Emperor Palpatine is called Darth Sidious, so if you put an 'In" at the beginning of their names, you get 'Insidious' and 'Invader'. Which sums up their personalities perfectly.
@sakisaotome67538 күн бұрын
there is also the fact Vader didn't become Luke's father until the second movie. when Obi wan spoke about vader killing anakin that was initially meant literally but somewhere along the way george changed things and decided to make vader into luke's father.

Another great reaction from you beautiful people even after a power outage. I love that you both love Bug. I've watched other reactors who on the spot hate him or put wall up on him. I 100% agree with alot of your points especially the one on Megan Fox and the Transformers movies. I hate to admit this but back when they came out I was in high school and I fell for the male gaze of it all and didn't give Fox her does as a great actress. I've since learned and honestly I feel bad for actresses that have to be filmed that way like how uncomfortable must they be. Anyway love to you both. Your so close 💃💗💙💜

Firstly, how could anyone hate Bug??? Secondly, I definitely had a similar reaction watching Megan Fox in Transformers the first time. Been (slowly) binging these reactions! Thank you guys for taking the time to voice so many interesting perspectives from your own experience, it really enriches the show even more and shows me facets of it I never noticed before :) And I can't help correcting a common misconception- but 'Vader' isn't 'father' in German (as I saw some other commenters point out haha). BUT it IS 'father' in Dutch! To be fair Dutch sounds like German to a lot of people unfamiliar with the languages so I assume that's where the misconception comes from. Germany is just way more well known than its tiny neighbour the Netherlands

Love the discussion at the beginning, and it’s something I really hadn’t thought about either. But this show is all about connection, and that scene is just another way the characters are connecting with each other. They make clear references to sexual connection earlier in the series (I’m thinking of the scene in the first episode when Nomi and Amanita are having sex and then we cut to Lito in his trailer dealing with…). The “workout” scene takes this to its logical conclusion, showing an increasingly stronger connection between some of the sensates.

I absolutely adore the "orgy" (although I don't really see them as that, just shared feelings during strong moments of life 😂) scenes in the show from the very first time. I have no issues with intimacy and am a pansexual woman who's had the luxury of being myself always without any consequences that were noticed by me due to my sexuality (explainingcause I know is, unfortunately, not the case for most people 😣), and by the episode when the first orgy happens, I had already created emotional connections with the characters. So I wasn't seeing a sexual scene, I was experiencing art in motion. The soundtrack, the editing, the choreography of the movements and the silhouettes of the bodies, the way every character was filmed, in every set, was just magical to watch, I've never seen anything like it. And it was even more beautiful for me cause it was, in the center, people who loved each other and were making love and connecting body and soul, and the sense8s are connected as well so they experienced the pleasure, but can separate the physiological feelings from their own. It's why they're not "humans", and though they're considerate less evolved (the whole "can't lie" thing) than a regular human cause of progress based on greed, is clear they're the better species. I cannot say enough of the "orgy" scenes, the cinematography, choreography and scores are always on point! And it is sexy as aaaaallll hell, personally speaking. Is heaven for a pan person 😂😂❤❤❤

Hi Pretty/Funny! First of all OMG you have to react to Orphan Black! On the subject of atheism and agnoticsticism, most "scientitfic atheists" are also agnostics. "Gnosis" being about knowledge, "Theism" being about belief. Even though I do not KNOW whether or not a god or gods exist (therefore Agnostic), I do not currently believe in any god or gods (therefore Atheist). Bug is adorbs, and remains so.He becomes one of my favourite characters,. His motivation is not ever selfish.

You both went (or are going) to film school? I'd love to know more. I used to watch Inside the Actors Studio when Lipton was hosting it. The prep he did getting ready for each guest was great. And I enjoyed that questionnaire. I noticed that "actor" was used to refer to all genders. It was a little surprising since so many awards are split into male & female. What's current in that regard? Please educate me. I'm used to "cinema" referring to movies only, but you've been using it for TV too. IS that common? Would your KZbin videos be considered cinema? Speaking of the gaze of the camera, opinions on Mad Max: Fury Road (if you've seen it)? Or perhaps it would be a good movie in general for reaction & comments. Did you end up putting up a video with your whole conversation?

I consider my dad to be a “machista” (man’s man) but I don’t know if having a daughter or being raised by woman affected his personality what i do know is he’s never once hit my mother or me and it’s sad that femicide is so common and phrases like “¿te pegan ?” (They hit you?) is a humorous way of asking if someone has a toxic partner or if they’re spoken for 16:18
@BenDza782 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but who told you that Vader means dad??? It's absolutely not true. I'm german. Nobody would think of Vader beeing Luke's father because of his name. It's very similar to"Vater", which actually means dad. Btw: Vater was very common in the past, but it has been replaced by Papa or Papi which are the most used. Just wanted to let you know.
