Fun Fact: ABC released several actual ghost-written books by "Richard Castle" including ones starring Derek Storm and Nikki Heat as tie-ins over the years. According to my grandparent, they're good (also just fun novelty pieces for a bookshelf for fans of the series).

FYI..... all the people he was playing poker with are all mystery writers. Dennis Lehane ( Mystic river, Gone baby Gone) James Patterson ( Alex Cross novels and The Maximum Ride series plus others) Stephen Cannell ( T.V writer of many sit coms) Michael Connelly ( crime novelist) plus others. Also the young lady who played his daughter is from my small town and is an absolute sweetheart.

@Travis, Sweetie you need to watch Firefly and Serenity before you get too much further with Castle. It's a show that also stars Nathan Fillion and is from the same creator as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Joss Whedon). I say this for a few reasons. First, this show (Castle) has a ton of refrences to Firefly that you will get a kick out of if you watch it before you get any further. Two, Firefly is only one short season (14 episodes and then a movie called Serinity). Also it's a cult classic show that still has an avid following called Browncoats and so many quoteable lines and witty dialogue. I honestly think you'd love it. I've watched the series dozens of times as well as the movie. It's also got Gina Torres and Mark Sheppard (Crowley from Supernatural) among several others you'll recognize. It's also a good series to watch because Nathan Fillion plays a character in the last season of Buffy and it's interesting to compare the characters. And I'm glad you've chosen this one. it's a good show despite the fact that the two leads were not fans of one another.

The "serious woman and goofy man solve crimes together" genre is surprisingly large: • Castle • Lucifer • Psych • The Mentalist • Bones • Remington Steele Any others people can think of that I missed? Anyway, _Castle_ is a great addition! (At least the first several seasons; it goes on a bit too long imo.)

Castle is a great show. It goes strong for 6 seasons imo then the showrunner steps down. The last two seasons will make you hate the new showrunners so bad you will contemplate taking a trip to their home and giving them "such a pinch"
