It's perfect for a second line if you have an old unlocked phone. It's nice for the occasional "digital detox" where you don't want a lot of distractions, but you can still have access to an emergency phone. BUT, you need to use it regularly or they take the number back.

Not if you have the SIM card, you’ll keep your number even if you don’t use it. If you just use WiFi then yes that is true

it does work! just gotta order the sim for $5. TextNow is slowly but surely also working on a way to integrate eSIM, eventually the minor barrier for entry with this plan won't exist.

thank you for that! to me ads aren't' a big deal, i've learned to ignore them most of the time, though i definitely could see how it's a deal breaker for some people.

@@whistleout Even so...as I see phone service like a utility. Being able to call people beyond making it a police matter with 911 should be affordable to everyone. My phone service ran out so I can't confirm this hospital visit so it's a longer wait time. Ads seem like a small price to pay to get it free potentially forever

It's good if you have no plans on getting or sending video calls, streaming anything without WIFI, etc... It seems more WIFI/internet based, than a phone service

It would be a good deal and definitely. Would be a good deal if you would get 3? Gigabytes of data per month so this way you never got a worry about running out of data because of that's all that you're using 3. Gigabytes of data is all that you need. And then you want more well guess what pay for it? But this would be a great wonderful idea if a 3 GB of data per month they get for free. Then it would be a OnePlus any more paper it. But that's my take on the matter won't give a bite uses up like a yes and a no before you turn around because if you have to. Update the phone? Let's say and let's see you're on the road and you need to update the phone just you updates itself from. Google play or if you have an iPhone just? From. The App Store that alone takes more than 1 GB just to do it. So it would be nice if they give you 3 GB of data. And if you need more pay for it. But that I don't think that this person who is talking in. The video even realized that 1 GB of data. If your phone needs to update and let's say you're on the road then what do you do? It will eat up your entire free data Cos 1 GB is not enough if your phone had stooped update. And and also sometimes even 10 GB of data per month is not enough if. Again? Your phone needs to update and if the system update. Yeah you'll need to tell me gigabytes of data if you're on the road. Again if the system update you may need attend gigabytes of data when you're on the road. So won't gigabyte of data? Yeah I'll pass.

the data goes towards "essential" apps only, i'm not sure it would allow the device to update on data... an easy way to avoid that would be setting your updates to WiFi only. another solution to your 3gig dream, is to just buy that amount of data at the beginning of each month... though it is a slight annoyance, would solve your problem.

You can only use a few apps like maps and Uber, so you won’t be doing any streaming. 1 gig is really all you need. I have it as a backup on one of my old phones, not as a daily driver
