Hey man, love your videos. I've been trying to improve my skiing and have a question - how are you able to change direction so quickly from 14:21 - 14:26 in the video? I'm able to change directions more gradually when carving, and can also hockey stop, but those turns look like something completely different. I see you end each turn with a little mini hockey-stop with your weight on the downhill ski to slow down (slightly flaring it out of the parallel position), but how are you whipping them around so fast while keeping them essentially completely parallel? Are you first rotating your upper body towards the direction you want to turn and just whipping your skis around to match that direction with really strong core muscles?
@riseandalpine2 жыл бұрын
Hey Austin! Great to hear you're trying to level up your skiing ability. It's all to do with your ankles and hips! When I'm skiing my body actually stays pretty squared up with the fall line facing downhill. All the magic happens in the lower body. You want to use the bumps to your advantage helping slow you down as you compress over them. It's a bit tricky to describe technique in words but my best advice would be to really practice mogul skiing technique and watch some mogul skiing videos. If you can shred moguls right - you can ski all sorts of trees well. Hopefully that helped a bit. Maybe I should make some more ski videos for intermediates looking to take their skiing to the next level?
