There is one thing common to all skiers that drives us crazy... riding our skis in powder, if possible, otherwise just on any snow. Each of us knows the intense joy you feel...and it's great to see that in your videos.

Great to hear your working hard to improve. Just keep practicing and slowly upping the speed. Make sure to smash a bunch of moguls too. Play with your weight leaning forward and sometimes back depending how quick you have to make turns. Sometime bad form and being backseat can actually help you smear around trees faster (if you have rockered skis)

Silverton CO is a place I’ve heard about for years and hope to make it to one day. It’s a one lift “in bounds backcountry” place if that makes sense. You go with a group and guide and hike form the lift to some awesome terrain. Guess they have cat and heli access also. Definitely a bucket list place.

Hey man, love your videos. I've been trying to improve my skiing and have a question - how are you able to change direction so quickly from 14:21 - 14:26 in the video? I'm able to change directions more gradually when carving, and can also hockey stop, but those turns look like something completely different. I see you end each turn with a little mini hockey-stop with your weight on the downhill ski to slow down (slightly flaring it out of the parallel position), but how are you whipping them around so fast while keeping them essentially completely parallel? Are you first rotating your upper body towards the direction you want to turn and just whipping your skis around to match that direction with really strong core muscles?
@riseandalpine
@riseandalpine 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Austin! Great to hear you're trying to level up your skiing ability. It's all to do with your ankles and hips! When I'm skiing my body actually stays pretty squared up with the fall line facing downhill. All the magic happens in the lower body. You want to use the bumps to your advantage helping slow you down as you compress over them. It's a bit tricky to describe technique in words but my best advice would be to really practice mogul skiing technique and watch some mogul skiing videos. If you can shred moguls right - you can ski all sorts of trees well. Hopefully that helped a bit. Maybe I should make some more ski videos for intermediates looking to take their skiing to the next level?

Is this an american thing to wait at the gondola for 2 hours?? I honestly dont get it. Here in the alps the gondolas open about 8 AM to 8:30 AM and basically nobody shows up 2 hours before that . Sometimes you have to wait for 10 to 15 Minutes to go up the Mountain in the High Season but other than that its easy cheesy

What year was it that Whistler clubbed the 200 unwanted sled dogs to death rather than give them to indigenous Canadians?

That sounds absolutely horrible.... I've never heard this story. Time to google.

That was 2010. They brought in sled dogs for the Owe-lympics & then promptly killed them off. The man convicted in connection with the slaughter of 56 sled dogs after the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver was handed a sentence of three years' probation with no jail time, plus a $1,500 fine.

hahahha - Whistler is a place for the patient. The interior is quieter and always has better snow. That's where I would look!

If you can tolerate em’ enough to watch then I appreciate it Austin. It’s always tough to please the parties who want to watch for strictly skiing and those for entertainment. If I didn’t add some hullabaloo I’d be just like every other person with a go pro strapped to their head. Maybe I can test some raw videos this winter and see how people like them!

@@riseandalpine i feel you i know it’s hard trying to appeal to tourist families and people who are really into the sport. I like the videos though some raw ones would be cool I’m going in January so I’m trying to learn more about the place before i go
