Wish Al Leiter or Sean Casey were here for this interview. They could really relate to being antivax, but still being able to work at MLB Network

Wish I didn’t know this information. I hate learning that people I otherwise respect are total ignoramuses on important issues.

Everyone is entitled to how they feel, being related to Whit it really bugs me to see people losing respect for him just because he's antivax... such a dumb reason to lose respect

Yeah really unfortunate, but during the Fall of 2021 MLB Network fired and threatened to fire people who wouldn't get the vaccine even if they were fully remote. This is including everyone behind the scenes like video editors, camera operators and directors. But on air talent was exempt from this and were free to get the vaccine or not, Casey and Leiter being some of them. Came in early on after refusal to get the vaccine and then was allowed to be remote and the behind the scenes people that make up the shows were told to come in and get vaxxed. It was 1 of many of the fucked up things Mitch McGlary, Matt Ciancimino and Will Cope have done@@slaugmromni6743

The following music lyric I definitely hopes come true when it comes to Whit Merrifield currently being a free agent, " Please come to Boston for the springtime" ... I think I speak for the majority of fans of "Red Sox Nation" by saying that we would love to see Merrifield playing second base for the Red Sox in 2024 ...

It'd be tough for him to find an everyday role most teams have multiple SS prospects that would fill that role on cheap and contenders would usually have it filled.

Excellent point regarding multiple SS prospects ... Jackson Holliday quickly comes to mind ... Merrifield may likely have to be willing to sign for a lower salary ... I read yesterday that the Red Sox would prefer trading for their current 2B needs rather than take the free agency route ... In most cases in MLB or in any other business, money will be the determining factor ... @@NotExplicable

If Merrifield is like 99% of MLB players, his only priority is getting paid as much as possible. Nothing wrong with that. Just be honest about it.

His priority should be to find a team so desperate that they ignore the fact he has regressed a ton the past few years and, except for speed, isn't particularly good at anything anymore.

Regarding @4:46 -Merrifield’s supposed reputation of always getting on base - his career OBP is only 9 points above league average and he’s only had two seasons (2018-2019 where his OBP was more than 3 points above league average. He gets lots of hits but doesn’t draw many walks.

I wasn’t aware he had that reputation, I always viewed him as a guy that put the ball in play a lot even if the contact isn’t always solid

The very over rated Philly GM. Will not be smart enough to sign this guy. The Phillies need a bat in left who can field. Besides a top 3rd starter. And a. Closer.
