One of my most memorable visits to Whitby included a trip on the vintage Lifeboat we went a mile or so out to sea when the Inshore rescue boat came along side. The two boats slowed to a near stop and one of the rescue boats men (The boss I think) climbed aboard he held a open conversation with the passengers and the skipper, Then he stood up walked to the front of the boat and said see you all later. Then he jumped into the sea in full uniform and waved his arms in the air.seconds later the rescue boat was jetting back to rescue him from a fair distance! Super bit of practice.

I remember attending Whitby Folk Festival "back in the day" used to park and camp in my litttle dome tent and 2CV up against St Marys church wall for free and the toilet block was open and cleaned 24 hours. Our part of Derbyshire had many folk artists in the early 1980's.

Just come back from Filey and been up to Whitby North Yorkshire Filey is an lovely small town also we stopped at Robin Hood bay outside Whitby was nice and lovely beach front a week ago I love Whitby and abbey was illuminated at halloween the home of bram stroker Dracula, also the town has an ghost walk meet up every night
