Whitby Goth Weekend April 2023 full walking tour | [4K]

We went to Whitby on goth weekend this year and made a full walking tour of it. You will love this video and please watch till end as it is full of surprises.
Whitby Goth Weekend is an alternative music festival held in Whitby. The event consists of two nights of live bands, and three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) of alternative trade stalls at the Whitby Leisure Centre, and Whitby Brunswick Centre.
The term "Whitby Goth Weekend" is sometimes used as a generic term to describe events during the week in Whitby as a whole, although the name of the event and its associated logo are registered trademarks of Jo Hampshire of Top Mum Promotions.

Originally it was the only UK's Goth music festival that Goths would go to for 5 days of clubs, bands, markets and more. Most people dressed in Whitby like they did anywhere else because it wasn't a costume. It was also cheap as out of season and not very busy other then with fellow Goths. I went to Whitby to get away from most people but they decided to follow us, gawp and finally take it away from us.

I remember going to Whitby Goth weekend in 2013 and it was definitely more music orientated, but since the organisers had their legal dispute about who gets to use the pavilion and spa and now you have tomorrow Ghosts Festival, Whitby Goth weekend is not as music orientated as it once was which is a shame. These days it’s become a bit like a fancy dress party and you have to spot the real Goths from the fancy dress ones.

We went in 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015. The first two had a totally different vibe and probably the tail end of the original festival because they were brilliant. Something change in our 5 year break. When we returned in 2014, 2015 it was not the same. The straw that broke the camels back was when WGW lost the Spa venue. It's too busy and full of old people in costumes. Doubt we will go back, at least during Halloween.

It was a great weekend. I visited Whitvy on the Sunday and had no idea about the goth event. The train from Newcastle was full, but of course, at the time I didn't know why. I'd even got a bargain ticket, £5.90 for a journey taking about 3 hours each way, from Newcastle.

Nothing Goth about it anymore. Mostly old people in Halloween garb. Not been since 2015 and probably won't bother again. Best was out first in 2008 but looking back on it, that was the tail end of the original festival, which was great.

And old people! Yes this used to be a great weekend 15 years ago but it's warped into some fancy dress up event. I find it odd how most of them are all 50+ its like a particular age group are trying to relief something or had some sort of breakdown and now trying to not take themselves too seriously? Same types at Devon Pirate Weekend and Lincoln Steampunk.

i'm a big fan of getting the worlds ugly people to dress up in bad cosplay outfits and encouraging them to gather somewhere where its definitely going to rain. Throw in a few transvestites and a bunch of angry small dogs that are also adorned in silly novelty hats and get them all to wander around aimlessly and you have a recipe for a great day out.
