We got somewhere around 8 inches of snow that made some drifts, time to get the snow blower out. First I had to take the duals off the White 6125.

Thanks for the video, Chris. I love a snowblower, we used to have one that attached to the back, but I couldn't use one now, can't look back to good anymore. I think your blower needs an over-haul. Saw a video about how to improve your snowblower, of course that was on a smaller walk behind unit, but he put plastic extentions on the blower paddles, so they would just clear the blower band, what a difference.
@ThatOliverGuyChris3 жыл бұрын
I think I watched the same video. I was thinking about doing something like that, maybe with round baler belt. It's been a couple years since I have used the snowblower, I should have painted the chute or oiled it to keep the rust down. It definitely throws better when shined up.

Your 6125 looks like a whole different tractor with the duals off. We are finally getting out of the cold snap here. Next week is going to be in the 30's and 40's for the highs. Thankfully we didn't receive much snow during the cold snap. We had enough stuff to deal with!
@ThatOliverGuyChris3 жыл бұрын
It does, and with the wheels in on 30s, you feel the contour of the ground a lot more. I'll be putting the duals back on in the spring. Yesterday morning was our coldest yet. I drove my daughter to school, it was 5 below there, 18 below about halfway between and 10 below here, all in a 8 mile (one way) drive. We still warmed up to 21 the same day.

We had one of our farmers, who put a snowblower on his hydrostatic IH tractor. It had twin five foot impellers, so it would cut a ten foot wide swath, and take drifts up to ten feet high. He hired himself out to the county and was getting paid $100 an hour. That was back in early eighties. Great unit until he backed into the end of a guardrail.

A hydrostat tractor would be perfect for this job. Being able to slow right down to match the load, you could take on about anything.

@@ThatOliverGuyChris the. Guys with their John Deere’s were destroying clutches and reverse gear. Seems JD chose to put a bushing in reverse gear instead of a bearing. The only modification to the tractor was a better air cleaner system to keep he snow out of the intake.

You could have made quite a good living down here in East Central Texas this week. We had 10 inches and most county highway departments don't own a snow plow. But you would need to bring your own diesel and groceries. We have none of either. Or gasoline. Or LP. And darn little electricity. My midwest roots helped us help others, but its been quite the story. Texas will be years recovering. But we will. And be stronger with Gods help.

Sure beats pushing it around eh?!! I have a 7 foot Lucknow I run with a 50 horse Moline. Mine will blow the stuff triple the distance what yours is doing. Not an exageration. I see some comments about the gap in the fan blades.... that can fix things but it is basically a bandaid on a design flaw. Not the gap, the blower itself. Forage blowers have a gap too, and they can throw stuff 100 feet straight up. Really though, if the unit moves snow and doesn't clog or sheer pins etc, i wouldn't sweat it! Beats pushing it, and it's fun! Adding the rubber to the blades might make it more fun though. Just remember, you do NOT want it to rub, you need some gap! 1/4" to 5/16" at least, IMO. The gap is there to prevent things rubbing, but also prevent things from pinching. Rubber flaps can pinch stones if you are working gravel drives. Once you start getting that, you will start getting broken sheer bolts! Blowers work best when they are at capacity also. Your set up looks a lot warmer then mine does! I have to be very mindful I don;t blow into the wind or I get a rude awakening! (no cab)

I bet that 6125 is a darn good tractor for moving snow plenty of power and a power shift
@ThatOliverGuyChris3 жыл бұрын
It does work nice. The 3 point hitch control in the late models like mine make it nice to run as well. The power part might be too much. If I open it up full throttle, by the time it acts like it is starting to work it will shear the bolts. If I run it a little under PTO speed, I can hear the engine start to work and hit the clutch quick enough to keep the shear bolts from breaking. It doesn't throw quite as far that way, but it beats getting out of that warm cab.

A few years back we had a 20 inch snow, so I was cleaning a lot of drives, someone would catch me before I could leave from the last one. One guy had drifts as tall as the main part of the snow blower. I didn't hit anything, but the whole time I'm thinking this guy forgot to tell me about the stones on the edge of his drive, or something like that.

We've had this one for over 40 years, never given any trouble. It handles wet snow, but if you don't keep it fed it can plug the chute. Once it gets shined up it does much better. Cold dry snow like in the video is no problem for it. They are built heavy, so you either need a decent sized tractor or plan on putting some front weights on. Mine is 7'6" wide, I've seen the one at Achbold, I think it is another foot or more wider.

The old IH with the blade had frozen moisture in one cylinder, so I went to my favorite snowblower, the 54" ZTR mower but it could not make it out of the solarium. So I just made tracks with Frankentruck so we could make it to the road. Of course, the road was not plowed because of all of the oil wells being shut in around here the road commissioner figured he would plow out those who voted for him. We got plowed out yesterday when a 6" water rural main in the field across from us broke and had to be dug up and fixed. I hope the farmer, who lives 40 miles away knows that big hole was dug because he might drive his 100' JD sprayer off into the mud pit this spring when he puts on his burn down. I am sure that will be the first time he will see the field before he zero-tills it. As usual, the road commissioner plowed the snow into our drive and mailbox as he does everyone's.
