White Bait on the Flats

How long will those scaled sardines survive in the bait pen? I'm assuming the threadfins won't survive at all in the bait pen.

It depends on tidal flow around the pen, and ours has very little flow. The greenbacks we’ve been storing in our 4x2x2 pen aren’t lasting more than 48 hours and typically are best when used with 24 hours. The best pen location will include enough tidal flow to facilitate oxygenation without pushing all the bait against the wall of the pen and drowning them. We got ours from baitbaskets.com, but you could easily DIY. Good luck!

Are you using circle hooks when using live bait ? And what size is typically used? Great video!

Yeah usually 2/0 Owner Mutu Light circle hooks are my go to! I like them for Snook, Redfish, Trout, Snapper, and smaller Grouper. I have another video where I discuss terminal tackle a little more. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHqWdmV3iMiUfdU Best of luck!
