A church took my grandparents to court to place my Mom and her siblings in foster care. Most were never returned, and they didn't have case workers. The foster parents just took them as their own without parental rights being signed away. Reason? Poverty due to illness and a house that needed a lot of work, but no abuse.

This would be a time when reparations should be straightforward, because there would be no discussion about pre-Civil War perpetrators and victims who had been dead for over a century and couldn't be punished / helped, Constitution Article 3, tracing their heirs, or calculating how to collect and divvy up the reparations money, etc. The perpetrators and victims of this crime are ALL alive. So when the slave-holders go to prison, seize their assets and divide them among the victims.
