The Trumpeter on the grey means this is a Long Guard meaning the King is in residence . The regimental Standard is also carried by the Corporal Major . Long Guard is 1 Officer , 1 Corporal Major , 1 Trumpeter , 2 NCO's ( Corporal of Horse and Lance Corporal of Horse ) 10 Troopers . A Short Guard is 2 NCO's and 10 Troopers . They left Horse Guards along Whitehall as when this was filmed the Parade ground was closed they are returning to Hyde Park Barracks .

Hi there @kathellison8084 could you please explain why the Trumpeter the very tall Trooper in this case, is wearing a Blues & Royals helmet here, when he is of the Life Guard Regiment? Does this only happen on a Long Guard detail. And is it reversed when the Blues & Royals have a Long Guard? Thanks. Perplexed kiwi 🤔
@kathellison8084Ай бұрын
@Pagan6979-be6ct . It goes back historically to when all regiments wore red on the battlefield , apart from The Royal Dragoons ( Blues ) and the farriers who wore dark sombre colours , the farriers today wear dark blue uniforms and the Life Guards black helmet plumes . They also carry an axe which was used to dispatch injured horses and remove the numbered hoof for identification .

The "white" horse is a Windsor Grey.
@kathellison8084Ай бұрын
The Windsor greys are carriage horses , this horse is the Life Guards Trumpeters horse . Grey horses were used for the Trumpeter on the battlefield as they were easily seen .

So when did the horse get spooked I seen him move around but not get spooked
@kathyreese4052Ай бұрын
He was well controlled by the rider.😊

A horse doesn't have to rear up, to be spooked! Getting agitated counts as spooking, they were waiting for the traffic to clear and he didn't like being around the people hanging about him. The guard as usual kept the horse well under control. This particular trumpeters horse is known for being skittish and naughty!
