How do trim the inside ? - I’m blown away by the level of knowledge that goes into these - I got a traditions just to get my feet wet - thinking about jumping in
@bkauffman039014 күн бұрын
@Brandansquests 2 methods. 1 is count threads in barrel wall then match the liner to that or remove the breech plug and mic the wall thickness. I then put the shaft end of the liner in a vise and file it down to the lroper length before installing it tightly into the barrel.

@ more vids on this process - I’ve watched a couple of different guys now and I’ve gotta tell you, bud you and everything black powder (the KZbin channel) make getting into this easy to learn. I don’t know anybody that muzzle loader hunts around here I’m from Montana. Everybody wants a 700 yard gun. So this is something you can put on any kind of gun? - like I said I got that traditions, but you know now that I went out and put quite a few rounds. I think I’d like to get a nice one. But I’m super interested in putting one together now that I’ve disassembled the traditions a few times- love your style man -kicks ass

@Brandansquests i would think traditions runs 1/4 - 28 threads. Pretty sure you can get a white lightinin in 1/4 - 28. I run 1/4 - 32 when I build. Start with a kit gun and go from there. You will see just how reliable these guns are with quality components. It's a whole different game. I try to tell people that without coming across like a ML elite snob. I'm serious , these guns are incredible. But you gotta be willing to pay for a lock what some people want to pay for a whole gun.

@ I’m finding that out I just love the whole concept of being able to do the whole thing yourself - I have absolutely noticed that your gun and a few other guys’ seemed to be extremely quick like a center fire .. I just took the liner out of my traditions and it is kind of concave definitely not a white lightning but they’re putting together a package that makes people interested … super appreciate the response man love the video like I said your style is pretty down home dig it

Thanks for the insight on the touch hole. It's fascinating how much of a flintlock's reliability hinges upon that tiny piece of equipment. The US should consider a new federal holiday celebrating the Battles of Saratoga. Currently, none of the holidays commemorate specific battles - and in some cases, these individual battles were crucial to our freedoms (like Meuse-Argonne in WWI and Midway, and D-Day in WWII). Most of the time, we celebrate the end of war - not the struggle. Saratoga could be commemorated by nationwide reenactments and flintlock-only hunts in mid-October. Thank you for the fine content.

@@bkauffman0390 That is a significant coincidence, especially if the correlation was an accident. Morgan's Rifle Corps had an important role in Burgoyne's defeat, and based on your success in the shooting competitions you enter, you are quite the marksman with a flintlock as well. By the by, my wife (Cortney) and I were married on the 18th of October, 2008, when I was still in the US Army. Thanks again for the quality of your channel.

@richarddean3154 that is a coincidence! October 18th is my wife's (Gabrielle) birthday. October 18 2008, was the first fall for me out of HS. I didn't go to college, i went straight to work, (best decision i ever made financially) and I shot a big doe that evening. I am weird in rembering dates. Also, I love who Daniel Morgan was as a man. What a man, tough ol booger. I don't read much but I LOVE American history. I read 2 books over the past few years. One on Daniel Morgan and the other on John Stark. I really enjoy the American Revolution podcast by Michael Troy. I eat it up. Thanks for the kind words
