First foot was from an old garter belt... My machine came with several. They were my Grandmothers.

Ive been watching your videos and love them. I have an old detailed white cabinet with a White machine. Not sure what year but went to a website and it looks to be about 1908, but maybe older than that. Its been oiled and I am learning to sew on it. It has the shuttle bobbin in it. Im so excited after watching you. I am a longarmer and I quilt without a computer. Love free motion. Am mostly excited about doing the embroidery on the White. thanks for these videos. Keep it going!

the original metal piece you had is off a ladies garter to hold up her silk stockings. There would have been a loop to hold it to the garter and another loop with a button attached, the button would be on the underside of the stocking and the wire piece would hold the button and stocking securely. Love your videos.

I'm excited I can free motion on my White by letting a small foot ride on the fabric with no presser foot pressure but I can't see my stitches well . Before my no pressure method I also tried making a FMQ foot with a paper clip, a piece of copper wire and ...... a binder clip but I was so focused on the round end touching the fabric and trying to clip the straight ends on the machine . Anyway ,I love seeing your new sewing machine finds. Could you video your archaeological dig through the drawers next time :). The new white is a beauty.

Thanks for the great tips. Yes, my bobbin slipped so I will be trying your tip on that. So, are you saying that most of the Kenmore attachments should fit on my old White? My White looks identical to yours, cabinet and all.

The old Kenmore attachment were the same as the white attachments.....but it depends on how old the kenmore attachments are....they changes to side clamping at some point (60's?)

That looks like and old fashioned girdle stocking clip when they were still made of metal! which slider mat do you use? There are so many makes, they cost a lot, and a lot of them are junk! I use a gooseneck LED floor lamp for my lighting on vintage machines. I keep it on my right--out of the way--and bend the head where I need the light

That "foot" seems to work a bit better. I was looking at my New Williams attachments and there is one foot that seems like it may be able to do the job. It says it is a braider foot, but it looks like no other foot i have seen for a braider and there is a bobbin cover braiding plate in the sets as well. It looks like a 2 pronged fork that is stubby. I have one in my Canadian singer vs2 tin set as well, but it is a normal low shank singer type attach system. I think i have enough information to actually give this a test try soon. Your video helps and thank you.

Im not sure what Tim washes his quilts in. But Im a quilter and longarmer, and I wash mine in homemade laundry detergent and line dry.
